Damn, Ron is just kinda sad and pathetic here. I don’t remember if he was this way in canon but it’s depressing to read, he’s so dependent on Kim.

There comes a point when you've re-read a fanfic so many times that leaving a review is simply the least you can do.
This story really is amazing. The Ron you've made here is a joy to read and someone that you want to root for.
The lead up and pay off to the final fight on the roof were spot on. I always stop reading and try to imagine Ron's fight with Shego on the roof. Even the hospital scenes were very fun and some of my favorites.
The underlining mysteries that have been added have me so curious.
So much of this story is great, even if you never post another chapter I'm more than grateful for what we've gotten. Thanks for all your hard work.

Ugh. ‘Nother dead “Ron stepping up” story. What especially upsets me about this is that you, Dridius, set the standard on how to PROPERLY write a maturing Ron who’s coming into his own. His character, the dialogue, the combat, everything. You and MrDrP are the only authors who manage to make Ron act like Ron in the most accurate way, I swear.

A common issue with most of these fics is that the author either makes Ron a male, lady-killer version of Kim who’s suddenly granted a level of wit matching that of Shego, or the author somehow guilt-trips Kim into thinking she did something wrong by simply wanting what she initially deems as the “perfect” guy, wanting the reader to feel sorry for Ron getting lost in the shuffle. There’s just something about how you write Ron’s feelings on the situation that feel so authentic and utterly Ron-like. Like when Shego queried Ron on WHY he came alone, he didn’t have a heroic speech prepared or anything intelligent to say. He simply didn’t know and he was honest about it. Or when he conceded to Shego’s scathing remarks on how his dynamic with Kim is changing, he tells her he always knew in that “I guess I knew but I didn’t wanna know but now that you’ve said it, I now do know, y’know?” kinda way. Lmao. THAT is exactly what Ron would say, not some sophisticated line on life’s curveballs or anything like that.

His combat prowess is portrayed realistically too for this fic. Not on Kim or Shego’s level, but not hopelessly weak as to be oneshotted by Synthodrones. Just right. I personally don’t mind fics having Ron surpassing the former so long as it’s done gradually and delicately, as if an innocent little puppy, lying and shaking helplessly on the floor, eventually grows into a dragon, devouring its prey. You do you though. I particularly liked how Ron leveled the playing field via the Lotus Blade. Hopefully he won’t need to in the future. Hell, it’d be pretty awesome to see him as an weapons master too. He’d fit the bill, being a wannabe ninja and all, along with the arsenal you made him buy.

Ron’s begrudging acceptance of the food chain chaining Kim (pun intended) is a sad state of affairs for the lovable lug. He is slowly becoming aware that Kim is entering a world where he just doesn’t belong, Eric being her gateway to that world whether she knows it or not. It’d be interesting to see how Kim would fare in having a social life with less of Ron and more of Eric and his likeness. An interesting change of pace, I’d say, with Ron realizing and fretting over the sad reality that growing up sometimes DOES mean growing apart, and yet Kim certainly deserves Eric and all that he potentially offers. Why should Ron rob her of this? The stakes are high for this dude.

Where Kim started and stayed with Ron in the show, solidifying her place out of the food chain, what you could do is have her fully and wholeheartedly embrace it through Eric while struggling to maintain the strong bond she’s always had with Ron, only to have her unintentionally push him away for so long that he can’t take it anymore and SOMEHOW tries to live without her being his constant rock in his life. Maybe have Hana fill in that void, wink wink (I’m a stickler for the Daddy’s Girl trope and I’d LOVE to see more of Hana in this light. We need more Hana, and what better way to mature and torture Ron than to have him raise her as opposed to just playing Big Bro). Good character growth, and then the story could eventually culminate to Ron and Kim coming back to each other spectacularly, realizing that they are meant for each other and ONLY each other. I personally would like to see Ron develop a complex, so to speak, in how he deals with Kim’s relationship with Eric and all that it entails, as if he rationalizes it by thinking himself to be inferior or Kim to fancy honey-laden, suave qualities in men, something he neither has nor wants. Never be normal, mayne. This could serve as another barrier between the two should Kim start pining for Ron. Just some ideas though. Still your fic.

I can’t stress enough how you maintain Ron’s Ronness in this fic. And yet it still is epic, tense, dramatic, sad, heartwarming, and humorous. You achieve that delicate so easily and nicely that it literally hurts to see this fic die. Please update. Almost all maturing Ron stories PRIOR to getting with Kim are pure garbage with major OOC tendencies. This is a bright gem that sets the standard beautifully and it should continue.
