I know it's been a while, but I hope you update this story! It was really good!

Ah, I had to laugh at Peter stripping down to lighten the mood for her.

Phil does know Peter doesn't have to be all that involved for Parker luck to kick in doesn't he? Merely being in the auditorium should be close enough.

Nicole is continuing from where she left off. If it wasn't for the last chapter I'd have thought she didn't 'actually' believe it and was just trying to rationalise not getting the part in a way that wouldn't leave her too upset but as it is, while I'm sure she is doing that, she believes every word of it. You can say she just doesn't realise how great Ava is but you can't claim ignorance while refusing to learn and Nicole as presented has no interest in learning better. Her higher opinion of Harry is not much of a surprise and a part of me hopes at some point she does wangle an invite just so that Norman can rip into her misconceptions in the one continuity where the Iron Patriot is actually good. It would be harder for her to ignore him than her classmates I think.

I like Sam and MJ as dwarfs.

Harry/Ava? Actually if it was Patriot/White Tiger that wouldn't be so bad but at that stage? No, just no. You are right though that plays are for the sake of the audience, now someone has to convince Peter of that.

First off, I liked the chapter as a whole and the overall point.

I cannot decide what I dislike more about Nicole — that she's a bigot or that she doesn't even have the decency to be an accurate or consistent one. Ava fits the physical description of Snow White better than a stereotypical Anglo-Saxon because unlike the brunette or blonde members of a failed civilisation she does at least have something fairly close to the hair (dark hair was seen as stereotypically Frankish, Norman, Roman, Chinese, Spanish... quite a few places that aren't dark ages England actually) and if we assume for the sake of discussion that skin colour's important then we also have to accept that as described Anglo-Saxons are not pale enough to play Snow White — for that you'd need a stereotypical Scandinavian (except they're not known for dark hair either). So we have someone who either makes exceptions to her exclusive attitude solely for her own benefit or one who (given just how few Anglo-Saxons were left once the Normans were done) doesn't know her own ethnic heritage yet seeks to lecture other people on arbitrary limits on theirs. Once again I'm not sure which is worse.

However as far as the story goes it doesn't matter which exact sub-category of bigot she comes under, only that she is one, and she's suitably vile to be the antagonist.

Peter on the other hand I have to agree with, and if their places were switched then (certainly early series at least) Ava would've been much less gentle than he was in making that very same point (even if he didn't articulate very well). Also Ava always seemed to me to be more the 'take a swing at him' type than the 'dump food on him' type but I guess that just comes down to personal preference. I can understand why she reacted the way she did to his comment though, and that he thought his actually sensible reasoning went without saying. However I'm sure Peter will support her and root for her to succeed even if chances are a supervillain will mess it up.

As a whole I'd rate this start as 9/10.
