That's interesting, GLaDOS thinking she had schizophrenia when she had the behavior cores installed on her. I imagine her hearing voices swirling around her processors and her looking through mental health databases to figure out the problem, and her having a dilemma over how to solve her suddenly "mental problem" that usually affects only humans. It's also quite interesting that you made Doug Rattmann the one to break the news to GLaDOS. It provides an explanation to how Rattmann survived the neurotoxin attack. Huh, I really like this headcanon.

Ahhh what a lovely story and a lovely concept. I've always loved the connection between Doug and GLaDOS, and you explore it brilliantly with this fic. Both characters DO sound in-character and believable, and I liked how the emancipation grill allowed his cube to go through.

I have to say that my favorite part if this was how you implied that while everyone else was going to die, GLaDOS would spare Doug for his help. That is one of my headcanons as well in the fic that I'm writing :3

Great story! It was very powerful and made a lot of sense. It makes me love Doug Rattman too-he seems like a genuinely nice, awesome guy. And I've always wondered how he survived the neurotoxin thing...I mean, seriously, if everyone else dies but him, how in the world did he escape?
And on another note, I was wondering how you might reconcile this idea of GLaDOS saving him from the neurotoxin with the comic that connected Portal 1 and 2. I've heard it's canon and I remember her mocking him, trying to make him think everything was just a hallucination and stuff-besides saying he'd avoided "capture" for a while. Thoughts? I mean, I'm wondering how he really did escape and everything anyway, so I think it's an interesting topic.
