So the speech you've put in Sarutobi's lips makes about as much -finally!- sense in this madness as the Logic one-shot by sprinter1988 makes in the HP universe.

A wonderful example of thimking/writing "outside the box." A brilliant little deus ex whose only weakness is that it would never work.

You may not find anyone willing to sacrifice their own kin, but that doesn't mean there won't be several willing to follow through on the execution plan (themselves, in secret) when they find the rest of the council unwilling to do so.

What is a council except a committee of politicians (who lie whenever "their lips are moving), then remember the classic definition of a committee as "an organism with six or more legs and no brain?" The more members involved, the less likely becomes any chance of unanimity.

Now that is a pretty good counter argument. Of course much of the story is based on Naruto's abuse, so I doubt the council would have gone that way under any circumstances.

Too, politics is never really about doing what's best, just look at the recent run of elected American leaders for proof of that. No, the corrupt canon depiction of the Council is a sadly-accurate reflection of real world political process.

I've never even watched Naruto (though I know some from reading xovers) and I loved this!

I do, however, understand what I read - wikis, fanfics - so it's not like I was reading a fic I didn't understand.
