It's not only the cream that rises to the top. Great writing.

Wow! This is very good...congradulations.

Incredible. Yes, you could end the story here but I think it would be brilliant to continue. Cheers!
JSML chapter 1 . 8/6/2013
This was absolutely brilliant! Slightly disturbing but that was what I wanted this fanfic to do to me so good job. It all is so in character and gives a realistic view of what Khan's time before the attack had been like, what would have been in his mind. It's rare sections of readings like this that renews my hope and faith in fanfiction and the power of writing when I feel like giving up from seeing so much crap and junk. Thank you!
Egghead456 chapter 1 . 7/18/2013
Wow...I am breathless. This is one of the most incredible stories I've read here...maybe ever.

The imagery is brilliant, and I especially like the ongoing debate (externally from Marcus and internally from Khan himself) over whether he is human or simply a disposable machine. I've read a few fanfics about Khan's time in Section 31 before, and this was the only one that truly deeply DISTURBED me, but in a good way, because this is how Khan must have felt the entire time.

Marcus is truly despicable, but also understandable, which makes me uncomfortable, but the best characterizations often do. The moment when he pitied Khan was just...ugh, I have no words. I hated him MORE for that, if that is even possible.

You show clearly how Khan's mental state truly unraveled slowly but surely, to the point where he was gouging out people's eyes, and yet you make me root for him the entire time...he seemed so calculating and put together in the movie, but perhaps something like this was happening beneath.

The hints of his past before cryosleep are truly tragic - he was always seen as a lab experiment or a 'machine,' and his crew is the one anchor to sanity that he has left. And to think that there were 84 of them before and that he was forced to watch 12 die...no wonder he was unhinged by the end.

All in all, this is a masterpiece, and this story is officially my new headcanon.
