Miravisu chapter 20 . 5/17/2010
Ack, sniffle alert alright! Trust Ardeth to do the right, but painful thing.

So, pray tell.. about this possible sequel? *nudges ever so slightly*
SkyHighFan chapter 20 . 2/10/2008
I like it. Anucksunamun has been stripped of her powers and killed so even if she does find a way to come back she's out of power. Her first body was killed still bound to Set and this one was bound to Set and killed but not un-bound so she came back with all of her powers intact. This time thanks to Ardeth's sacrifice her powers have been destroyed and she's dead again and Set's High Priestess isn't around anymore to bind her again even if she ever does find a way back.
Tolkien Freak chapter 1 . 5/27/2003
Actually, considoring I haven't liked your others, this is going to sound weird, but I liked this one. I liked it a lot. The qoates from the Bible were really cool. I'm Messianic Jew so I can relate to all that. Dude! You like Lord of the Rings! Thereafore, concluding that even though I didn't think the world of your other stories, I'm going to write good reviews on them. Yes, Elrond is hot. The story was pretty good, and well written. I'm not going to write a long review, even though I want to point out all the things I like (mostly because my friend's typing in... inappropriate stuff, and I'm trying to stop her at the same time. She's trying to flame you on this story. But, I liked this one.) If you keep this up, I hope to see more.

Mommints chapter 20 . 12/17/2002
What a tragic, powerful and thought provoking chapter and conclusion to this story. The childish part of me does not want to acknowledge Ardeth's frail mortality, even though I myself as a writer have tested it time and time again. It's always been my childish belief that Ardeth would live forever, avoid the ravages of time and never fall nor walk into the dark side. Granted I'm not too happy that you've successfully written all of this and therefore shattered all my illusions. LOL ;-) But then again, a writer needs to grow, explore, learn and expand thier own style and technique. Am I angry? Naw, just glad I was able to read all of this and appreciate it.

So let me end this rambling review with this ominous note: I tend to mimic the stories of the authors that I like to read. Consider yourself firmly added to the list and oh yes, you have been warned. ;-) LOL

I love tragic endings - a good cry ever now and then is therapeutic!

*****Beautiful Masterpiece*****
Lula1 chapter 19 . 12/16/2002
Very emotionally packed chap...Wow, that 'priest' ceremony was something else! Geez...his side cut and left to die. Very nicely done...with Imhotep reflecting upon his own initiation.

I feel so sorry for Ardeth, Evy and Immy...and well, I feel for Rick and Jonathan too!

Leave it to you to be able to inflict a little humor in a desperate situation. LOL...just thinking about Jonathan rooting through Ardeth's drawers...and Rick telling him that he should wait until after everyone is asleep...good thing...cause the Medjai coming in with the cot and all. It wouldn't have looked to good on Jonathan, now would it have?

I feel sorry the most at this time for Omar. I can only imagine the pain he is feeling knowing that his son will probably get a death sentence if he gets through all this.

Sorry it's taken so long to read and review this, but I've been one sick puppy, as you know...lol...but getting better now...almost, that is.

Great job, Angela!

Oh my god.

I am speechless. Give me a moment to collect my thoughts.

No, I need a little more time.

Wow. What a story. So sad and dark.

The ordination was wonderfully written, the idea of hovering on the brink between life and death to prove yourself...fascinating. And Anck was just delightfully evil in places. My favorite line from her POV must be: "He was truly breathtaking when afraid." Bone-chillin'!

I was thinking of this story in comparison to WWOW, which you know I love...and I think it's interesting that you take the dark, tragic route here that you didn't go there. In that story you have all these suggestions of a broken Ardeth, of a horrible, dying world ruled by Imhotep-but they are just dreams. They never happen, and you give us a happy ending.

Here, the story is dark and meleancholy the entire way...and you give us a sad ending, the sorrowful ending of, at least in some part, evil triumphing over good. Anck may not have completely taken Ardeth's soul, but she forced him to take his own life, betray his friends and family.

I like the dark world you portray. Life isn't always happy, and good doesn't always triumph over evil. You've presented a bewitching portrait of a man's downfall, and made it truly tragic.

This story made me think, and although I don't especially favor Evy/Imhotep, I was really drawn into your tale. Needless to say, if you write it, they will come ;-) Or at least I will.

Marcher chapter 20 . 12/11/2002
Weeping! The most powerful and emotional scene in this wasn't so much when he died, but when Omar received the letter and everything surrounding it. Not that the rest wasn't great, but that whole Omar scene was just soooo sad!

You let Imy live this time :) I'm glad.

It's over, sob. But thanks for some very enjoyable evenings spent reading this. Just wonderful!
Marcher chapter 19 . 12/11/2002
That's one nasty ritual or an ordination!

Great battle scene. “I might look alive, but I sure as hell refuse to feel it.” hehe, great line! Tori the tulip...HAHAHAHA! You've done a great Rick in this chapter!

Now Ardeth's been accepted by Osiris. Why do I fear things look ominous! Onto the final chapter.

the last chapter was so sad, i almost cried! I enjoyed this story very much and hope, if you plan a sequeal that it will come soon! you did a good job with ardeth being with the darkside and with ancksunamun being a witch. Although i'm not really a fan of them, they were very well done! I'm more of an evy/imhotep fan, as you did them very good as well! Keep up the great work.
Deana chapter 20 . 12/11/2002
YOU KILLED HIM! YOU KILLED HIM! YOU KILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLED HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIM! *GASP* Awesome story! I can't wait for your sequel! ;)
Lula1 chapter 18 . 12/8/2002
Geez, Anck is attacking the Medjai camp! I loved the verbal confrontation in the desert. I'm glad that Rick worked hard to reaffirm faith in Ardeth. Glad he seemed ready to defend him. Oooh...Immy and Ali! It's hard to believe that Immy won over Ali...well, I can understand considering Immy's determination to get the book and save Evy(and probably kick Ardeth's butt bigtime for kidnapping her).

Beautiful scene with Ardeth and Evy. That was so wonderful to see...Evy displaying her love and affection for him despite the knife at her throat. Now that is what I call true friendship. She knows he is deeply wounded and he is hopelessly beyond despair. A small ray of hope is better than none at all. Oooh, I wanted to give him a big hug too!

Excellent! Can't wait for more...

Marcher chapter 18 . 12/8/2002
So Ardeth hasn't reached the point of no return after all and Evy is going to be his salvation...or at least the beginning of it.

I liked your references to the original movie too. Imhotep wishing he could turn into sand to by pass the door and Jonathan remembering the Med-jai's initial attack. Nice little pieces of humour in here as well. Maureen.
