But then you remember how awful Sam treated Dean as a kid. How Sam up and left multiple times with no note left behind. You remember Sam harvesting rage and hatred for Dean in the first season, Sam’s betrayals and choosing addictions over his brother, abandoning Dean when Dean died,etc. There should be no sympathy for Sam or anybody else in that family,

This is so well done. You had me hooked from the first paragraph, and kept yanking heartstrings all the way through. It was so sweet in the beginning, and soooo sad. I don't dislike John, and I like how we saw the progression of just 'not having enough time for his boys' to not even trying, but with Johns realizat ions that he should have tried harder. Very sad.
Loved the part where Dean puts down his contact info for Sam. The brothers are so sweet together!

I read both your stories on SPNOrder and Sacrifice and Father of One. Both the fics are amazing and awesome. True a sperm can make a person a biological father but whether the child considers that individual a father depends on the individuals actions. Dean never gave birth to Sam but he was more of a father than John was. Agreed he had lot on his plate but that is no excuse.
Dean's love for his brother is beyond imagination.

That was beautiful and broke my heart you jerk. I knowJohn wasn't as sucky of a parent that the fandom has made him out to be, but I could also see this happening. I thought Sam and dean were characterized perfectly , and man, seeing it through John's eyes? That hurt. I'm crying inside now. I hope you're happy. Very well done. I hope you keep it up.

i love everything abt it. you can fit the entire fluffiness and angst but still holding on to the character. I've read many that sometimes neglect their real character (exaggerated or minimized) in attempt to get the angsty/fluffy feelings.

Godamnit, that ending made me cry. I think John is a decent guy canon-wise, but you're right, Dean was always his Dad. This was great. Thanks for posting. Now I gotta go find everything else you wrote. ;-)
