I loved this. It’s always hard to write about a topic as serious as abuse and rape (because let’s face it, Jake sure as shit did that) without people coming at you for not “writing it correctly”. This was not that. I think you did an excellent job of capturing her hopelessness and her determination to never let another man hurt her again, as well as her confliction—trying to come to terms with the mating pull and reconcile that with her absolute determination to have nothing to do with a man controlling her and hurting her again. People tend to forget that there isn’t a set way for someone to deal with the things they’ve gone through. No one survivor survives the aftermath the same. Some shut down completely, some block it out, some move forward as if they’d been through nothing. Heck, some rape survivors become sexually promiscuous just to take back control of their bodies ffs. There isn’t a right or wrong way for someone to act (yes this is directed to the review that said Bella wasn’t acting like someone who has been abused). Just like there isn’t a definitive time frame to “get over” stuff like that. I have a friend who has been away from her abuser for over 15 years and she still has days where she can flashback, where she wakes with a sense of foreboding, where she cries for seemingly no damn reason. Sorry, I went on a bit of a tangent. Lmao.

I especially love that she maintained those connections to the people she loved before, during, and after because those can be important. Paul walked her down the aisle! Be still my heart!

So it was Emmett. And Alice had a vision. Wonder if that ruined all her plans, the manipulative bitch. They all love her so much but didn’t save her time and time again from Jake? I’m still struggling to come to terms with that. I know that families often stay out of abuse, it isn’t like it’s some unusual thing to happen. But they at least try to get the abused to see that they’re able to leave and try to get them help if at all possible, it sounds to me like the pack helped Jake keep her captive. I’ll feel better once I learn it was because he forced them because he was alpha and that they couldn’t fight that off until that final straw when Jake left her to die. Poor Jasper. He’s lived so log off the venom he’s become an addict. Makes me worry that if Bella drinks too much of Garrett’s that she’ll have the same issue
