Hey, sorry for being a wet blanket, but something about genderfics and people trying to get the protagonist to act and look like their actual gender kind of irks me. I feel like America should have been left to live as she wanted, including dressing and acting like a boy. Sorry, I just had to get my feelings written down. It's your story, so you should write whatever you want. I think you have a very smooth writing style that flows fairly easily, but the last two chapters got kind of repetitive and I skimmed through them. Take my comments with a grain of salt.
