Anonymous chapter 25 . 7/12/2016 Awesome story, very well written. Horrible cliffhanger, though. :-) Loved all the sarcastic humor. This deserves more recognition than it has! |
Prince Pondincherry chapter 9 . 6/28/2016 I bet Elizabeth is eventually going to think of herself as "the tech side" to John's operations, so it's funny that she's just a peripheral teammate. |
sheilacalhoun chapter 25 . 3/12/2015 This is so good! Ah! Keep it up! |
sheilacalhoun chapter 9 . 3/11/2015 Wow i love this! And i imagined Finches eyebrows going to the ceiling. That was a great visual! |
Kallie49 chapter 1 . 2/13/2015 I really enjoyed this story! I don't always buy into OC's - and having almost the whole story from an OC POV can also be a stretch - but this was a really neat character and you did a great job with it. (Plus, Person of Interest lends itself to having new characters all the time anyway!) I also really appreciated the techie details. I don't know enough to understand it all myself but it sounded very plausible and definitely adds credibility to a story set in this universe. |
InkFairy chapter 1 . 5/10/2014 Read this all in one sitting, and absolutely loved it! Ellie's a great OC, and you depict John so well. Can't wait to read the sequel! |
SailorChronos1 chapter 5 . 5/4/2014 I just discovered this story and I'm enjoying it so far! Miss Ruben seems to be heading in the same direction as Finch, which makes her an interesting character. The jumps in time can get a bit confusing but one just has to read more carefully. I'm definitely planning to read more soon. |
carolinagirl919 chapter 2 . 10/28/2013 Very entertaining second chapter. Everyone felt in character, and I enjoyed reading snarky Reese. Can't count how many times I giggled. |
carolinagirl919 chapter 1 . 10/28/2013 Elev, I finally got around to reading this. I have to say my interest is definitely peaked. Moving on to the next chapter... |
BenRG chapter 25 . 10/25/2013 I'm presuming that the woman Greer was talking to was the mystery woman in the black car who ordered the massacre of The Machine's government handlers at the end of Season 2. Well, well! It seems that our plucky heroes might have got in very, very deep indeed! This is the first PoI fanfic I've read that's really caught my interest and held it. It had excellent characterisation and story-telling, so good that I frequently had to go back to a previous page to comment - the need to move onto the next chapter and learn what happens next is that strong. I think you've got the OC right too - not too perfect, not too cliché in her flaws. She's very obviously a normal girl who has staggered backwards into a world and an adventure completely beyond her ability to imagine. Worse, The Machine likes her. Those it likes and finds useful quickly learn there is no way out of the algorithm it seems to be constructing. I wonder if we'll eventually have a situation something like that you describe here - where The Machine constructs a directory of 'auxiliaries', former Numbers who owe John and Harry their lives and have shown the right psychology to be useful operational assets. I'll be keeping an eye out for the sequel that is very clearly obvious from the hooks in the ending. |
BenRG chapter 24 . 10/25/2013 I've got to say that this Sarim doesn't strike me as the normal sort of Number. Whatever he's doing must be big and homicidal but NOT political to have caught The Machine's attention and for it to have gone to Finch rather than Research. |
BenRG chapter 23 . 10/25/2013 Must have been a fairly low-powered gun if the motherboard and casing was enough to stop the bullet - Probably the pitiful .22"-calibre pistol that people actually expect to do anything except make burglars mad. |
BenRG chapter 22 . 10/25/2013 Whoops! Still, I guess this will make things easier and harder at the same time. As soon as he realises the jig is up, he'll likely sing like a bird and then either attempt to kill Ellie or beg her for help (depending on his level of innocence and what exactly is going on). On the other hand, it isn't beyond the bounds of possibility that Ellie can tap-dance her way around this by playing the confused, disoriented intern. I doubt it but stranger things have happened. |
BenRG chapter 20 . 10/25/2013 It should be interesting to see if Ellie can hold her character (although it's unlikely that any of her marks know Elizabeth Ruben, so there's an extra layer of protection there). That said, the company's security set-up is a nightmare. I figure she'll have the entire system cracked and singing like a chorus of angels in about ten minutes and be the only person with access beyond anything but a faked firewall in about thirty. After that, she can back-engineer the Number's identity and activities literally at leisure. |
BenRG chapter 18 . 10/25/2013 Interesting. Is Corvus Finch? It might explain some things. I wonder if he and John are dancing to The Machine's tune. Given its' treatment of Root, it might be capable of identifying Assets on its own now. However, this would be a new layer of sophistication - to actually so accurately predict Finch and Reese's psychology that it could be sure of them training Ellie too! |
