I loved this, i ship Kazama and Chizuru and the way you put it into writing was amazing. the way you used historical event but didn't strongly stick to it made the story flow beautifully. you should try your hand in writing your own story with out it being a fan fiction I bet that you would be amazing at it as well. again thank you for the read, I hope you have many more in the future.

I know this is finished, but im a huge shipper of Kazama/Chizuru, i like Hijikata but, K/C are more suited to one another in ways i cant understand myself, it just seems so right

I really love this fic and it still remains one of the best I've read under Hakuoki (I read The Journey too and also adored it). I loved how everyone stayed in character and the events all seemed so natural, like it was an extension of the anime. I'm a massive KazaChi fan (haha) and I was SOO relieved to find a story that was detailed and realistic, in addition to well written! Yay!

I made a mistake! Olena Tyrell! Not Martel lmao. Anyways! I just finished all of this and I must say it was really great. I'll have to start the prequel next :) I always felt Kazama was the better choice over Hijikata... It just seemed like it fit more but alas we know what happens in the end anyways.. I loved all the battle scenes and all the history even with it tweaked a bit, still a great read. There aren't many really great multi chap fics in this small fandom and this one certainly is great. Thank you for this! :)

Kazama's grandmother reminds me of Olena Martel from Game of Thrones lol just thought I'd mention that :P

I really like this so far.. I must admit I skipped over it a few times because it just didn't resonate with me at first glance from the summary... That and well I'm a huge Souji X Chizuru fan with Kazama and Saito in the running for second place and Hijikata just really irks me... I've played through all the routes, watched all the anime, OVA and 2 movies.. Souji got swept under the rug in all the visuals but his route in the game swept me off my feet more than anyone's.. I like that you include him and don't write him off as some invalid not worth mentioning, so thanks for that :) I always felt that Hijikata n Chizuru were too forced, out of convieince and that they really didn't have any real chemistry.. Hijikata is easy on the eyes and I love his seiyuu but as far as him being the main love interest for Hakuouki.. He was just lackluster for me personally.. I hate Kaoru with passion more holier then God and when I saw him appear in this I wanted to throw my phone across the room lol I think after being such a huge Souji lover you just tend to really despise Kaoru.. Then there's Kazama.. I hate how short his route is and his voice makes me melt.. I had hoped she would actually go with him in the movie. It really paints a diff picture of him that you don't get from the series besides his OVA which I adore. Anyway, I look forward to what's in store for the rest of this fic :)

You had all the characters in character throughout the whole story and I almost cried tears of joy when Chizuru found her happiness with Kazama. :)

And I noticed you've published this story on as well, I already reviewed there. for ya because this story was SIMPLY AMAZING! XD

For a few moments however, I feared that Chizuru would become a Fury due to her brother and this story would turn to angst real fast.

I read a story like that before this one and it caused me to cry a lot because of it, and I don't cry that easily. But with the Shinsengumi and Kazama, as well as Chizuru...I think I may have become a softie.

But it's okay. :D
