I love this! Wow, I love this so much! The ultimate standoff - these stories are so great. I'd love an epilogue, if you ever see fit to provide one. Of course, I know it's been quite awhile.

This was wonderful. Your pacing and descriptive language kept up the tension masterfully, especially the shadows on the cave walls (a reference to Plato?) and the many many faces of Koh. You convey so much emotion through description; I'm really very envious of that skill. And ambiguous endings are the best-it wasn't necessary to see Mai defeat him, just to know that she still thought herself capable of it. Very nice work.

I read this in 5-10 minutes, and, out of habit, kept a straight face. It felt so agitating to see a lovely person almost fall like that. I love it, I love it, oh God I love it.

I loved the ending. You're use of vocabulary and imagery is astounding. I also very much enjoy the fact that you used riddles, and how Mai's interactions with Koh sort of mirrored what she was taught as a child. Well done
