The Lauderdale chapter 1 . 8/29/2013 I am giving up and coming out of review retirement. It's not working, and I miss reviewing people's stories. Anyway, much belated: I read this story aloud to a friend when it came out. She's not my friend anymore... No, that's not true: we're still friends. 8) Though I meant the first part: I really did read the whole thing to her, RL, on my kindle. I love both this story and the sound of my own voice, and she made the perfect victim. We were behind the wheel, and she was driving. I will I could say that I won a new acolyte that day, but she came out of it still baffled with my love of fanfiction and Orc-stuff, even as she confessed it well written. [sigh] I really do wish that I could put this in my C2. That said, it is right that it should be in the Silmarillion section. A jewel of a fic. And for all that it is of Orcs, it is of Elves just as much - both the one who is being turned, and the one who was turned so long ago that only the hollow inside him attests to what has been lost. The slow recovery of a lost name at the end, the name of He who robbed him, changing as the speaker reaches back through the centuries...the transmutation of the syllables...is still both painful and beautiful. Really, very well done. |
horseyyay AKA Morgoth chapter 1 . 8/8/2013 that's is scarily sad... |
androidilenya chapter 1 . 8/5/2013 Wow. This was an amazing story. First of all, I loved how well-written both the Orc and the Elf were, and how fleshed out they felt as characters. I also loved the way you wrote the elf's gradual deterioration - and the dialogue was really amazing. I loved these lines: "Shall I find you a mirror?" The fear returned like a disease left untreated. The Elf turned his head away and trembled in its grasp. "Don't." Those and the last few lines really stuck with me, for some reason. This was an incredible story, and you are an amazing author! I hope you continue writing such awesomeness :) |
EvilFuzzy9 chapter 1 . 7/25/2013 SO SAD. ;A; |
