Reviews for There and Back
aaeiilnn chapter 14 . 11/4/2018
This was really nice and you made a great choice by making all the changes that you did... So much company would have been too crowded and made it all unrealistic

i have to say i was so stupid to not have expected sherlock playing the role that he did,, i was genuinely surprised and completely forgot about benedict cumberbatch being in the hobbit series as well wkdbsjdbs

seriously everything you write is absolutely amazing and this one did not disappoint at all
Guest chapter 14 . 7/16/2017
WE DIDN'T GET A HUG! My sole purpose in reading a fanfiction is getting a John and Sherlock hug... bit despite this- it was a great story! Both Sherlock and Mycroft protective and worried about John and John accepting that he is irrevocably part of the Holmes family. I also loved your effortless crossover-it worked so well! Great story!
jj chapter 14 . 10/25/2016
that was simply amazing wonderful job i love all the twists you used to make this story flow and fit so seamlessly together
Tamha chapter 14 . 6/4/2015
Well done and very enjoyable. I liked how Mycroft took over the parts of both Thranduil and Saruman (from the Hobbit, anyway), Sherlock did Smaug and Frodo, and Sam Gollum pulled off Smeagol and Gamgee. Also, I think I'm glad you didn't try to tackle Bagginshield or Johnlock on this, and kept everyone platonic. (Not because I don't ship them, but because I ship them both.)
Gracie Pearl chapter 14 . 4/26/2015
Hahaha this was awesome. Loved how you made Sherlock Frodo.
Ishtar1958 chapter 14 . 12/24/2014
This was amazing! Love what you did with it.
EvilDime chapter 14 . 10/3/2014
*ggg* Well done! I was a bit sceptical about the premises, but everything fit together in the end, and you really included a wealth of scenes from the journey There and Back. I was startled that Sherlock turned out to be the dragon, after all - I hadn't expected him to show up so early in the story. And then he turns into Frodo in the end! ...Though I suppose that's still a more easily acceptable transformation than Gollum incorporating Sam, or Mycroft being both Thranduil and the Forces of Mordor (torturing Gollum for information)...
I had a lot of fun imagining the Middle Earth Characters experiencing the situations you put yours in - such as Bilbo politely introducing Smaug to the dwarfs as a long-lost friend. XD
The scenes that were pure Sherlock were good too, though. Like Mycroft redirecting John to a restaurant. Priceless! XD

EvilDime chapter 1 . 10/2/2014
I'm intrigued.
...One phrase struck me as so very true: that thing about the awareness that each day could be the last, which comes from dangerous events in one's life. I dare say that getting runover by a truck has a similar effect, at least for a while. Although it does go back to something more normal after a few years. :P

Sparrow49 chapter 14 . 5/18/2014
Well that was a pure, exhilarating delight. I absolutely loved picking out the parallels from Tolkien - Mycroft really does make an awfully good Thranduil - and I laughed out loud repeatedly at the names you picked for people and places, or at some of the especially creative reworking of details from the book. (I can just imagine Bilbo shouting, "the helicopters! The helicopters! The helicopters are coming!") But even without that extra layer of intense enjoyment the story was just so very good in its own right! I'm so glad to have found your writing, AND to have found another new favorite story. Reading my way through the list of your titles that just keeps on happening. Once again, Brava! Brava!
MuggleCreator chapter 14 . 5/16/2014
Brilliant stuff, just brilliant. Giggle. Loved the twisted names...and the characterisations were great!
Sherlock pulled a Frodo...
And almost as soon as you introduced Sam Gollum, coupled with the Ring (which is very good to be gone), I had an inkling...

Spectacular! :)
ThatSassyCaptain chapter 14 . 1/5/2014
Dear Review Reader, STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING RIGHT NOW AND READ THIS. Read it NOW! Don't stop until you are done, because this fantastic thrill-ride will have you on the edge of your seat! It will have you jumping out of your chair! Yelling at your computer screen! FIST PUMPING THE AIR! I'm not a doctor, but I think that prolonged exposure to this amount of raw, radioactive STUPENDOUSNESS will be LETHAL. As in: LETHALLY AWESOME. This story should come with a Surgeon General's warning: So INCREDIBLE it can KILL. Ingredients: Intricate plot, well-written characters, fantastic scenarios, incredible devices, astounding wit, and just enough canon to drive the knife home. Read at once, if convenient. If inconvenient, READ ANYWAY.
A Rabbit chapter 14 . 1/3/2014
Well done. Excellent story. I enjoyed every bit of it. Rabbits...
Ms Cold chapter 14 . 12/29/2013
Oh my god that was just an absolute delight to read! I loved it!
The way everything hung together so well, each little reveal of both the lotr and the hobbit characters/events.
And the characterisation of both John and Sherlock were so spot on and Mycroft was magnificent!
It had me giggling, gasping and throwing my hands in the air in exasperation I love it! Thank you so much for such a wonderfully exciting story! Absolutely brilliant!
Spaz86 chapter 14 . 10/16/2013
