I didn't think you could surpass the third chapter, but then you went and did it with this one. I loved the scene between Javert and Chabouillet, and especially the scene between Javert and Cosette. I adore how you the capture so many different emotions between Javert, Valjean, and Cosette here. My only complaint is that I wish there was more to this story!

I loved every word of this chapter, especially Valjean's reaction when Javert started talking about the "pleasures of the flesh." The way he went still as a stone is just priceless. Those two seemed to be dancing around something throughout this chapter, and I'm so impressed with how you captured the push and pull between them.

I *love* how hot and bothered Javert gets at the thought of Valjean changing his bandages, and then when Valjean actually does it... oh my! He also seems to assume something when he finds out that Valjean has been visiting Marius's bedside, too. This chapter was wonderful. I'm so impressed by the way you write these two characters.

I always wished that Hugo had given Javert a chance to find redemption, rather than throwing himself into the river, so I was VERY happy to find this story. You wrote this all so well, especially Javert's horrified reaction when he realizes that Valjean isn't a figment of his imagination. I can't wait to read the rest!

Ahh, wait! Why does this only have 8 reviews?! This is now one of my favorite stories on here! I love the arguments between Javert and ValJean, and also the semi-friend, semi-coworker thing going on with Chabouillet (and that is one difficult name).
There hassssss to be more of this! You are a wonderful person for writing this, as I saw the original prompt on the kink meme, but at the time it wasn't filled (much to my chagrin).
As a avid Hurt/Comfort, Angst addict, this story is great! Ohhh, stubborn Javert, not changing your bandages and just so set on thinking you are constantly doing something wrong when it comes to ValJean. I couldn't help but laugh my ass off when he went outside twice more in his winter coat, because he's just that stubborn.

Dear Miroslav: This is the finest chapter you have written so far, and that is saying something! You have a deft hand at writing both characterization and dialogue, for both are superbly done. Valjean and Javert are both very much in-character, although I am beginning to wish someone would smack Javert upside the head for being so stubborn that he will not allow *anyone* to help him. But then, I suppose that is typical of our favorite Inspector. As you have indicated, Javert believes he does not deserve help. I very much enjoyed your portrayal of Chabouillet-and BTW, I agree with him that Javert, if he did resign, would be bored out of his mind in no time-but most of all, I liked how Chabouillet, in his gruff way, showed some concern for Javert's welfare. High time someone (besides Valjean) did. I like your portrayal of Cosette, as well. It was very convincing, allowing her to evince just the right amount of curiosity, mixed with taking care not to ask any too-searching questions. I found your demonstration of how Javert is beginning to change, rather in spite of himself, impressively done. And of course, this is the chapter in which readers learn that Javert and Valjean have cared for and been attracted to each other all along. Those passages were written with great sensitivity and skill. The plot device of having Javert get tangled up in the arms of the coat, so that he was unable to move and thus forced to listen and respond to Valjean, at least for a few minutes, was very well done! I enjoyed reading it. I am equally pleased that the Inspector seems at last to have accepted that it would be a bad idea for him to resign, because as both Valjean and Cahbouillet have been trying to tell him, there is still a lot of good he can do as a policeman. I really look forward to Javert's getting back into the game by joining in the interview of the servant who was attacked. I loved this chapter! I was contemplating waiting to comment when this fic is finished but I realised that it's cruel to not say thanks when you wrote wonderfully.
This is a really good fic and I hope you continue it because dang, I love your Valjean. And Javert.

Oh I love how flustered Valjean gets when Javert talks about how this place and what he wants to do there :D Your writing is so great! I especially love how you describe Javerts feelings but how he doesn't realise what this "knot" actually means :) I'm really looking forward to the next chapter!
