Reviews for The Trials of Tiny Teens
Guest chapter 6 . 1/20/2019
Roy's lucky Artemis is that kind of kid. Comfortable with the idea of beating up "bad guys", and trained enough in tiny beginnings to be able to play pretend with training dummies so they can do some actual training in the guise of imaginary adventures. Teaching her better ways to throw a punch or a kick, and tricks to aiming at bigger opponents are both a fun activity for them both and really practical. Granted, someone "responsible" would probably be miffed, but they are vigilantes, even if Arty is tiny now. As long as they aren't sparring properly or anything, isn't it a duty of older sibling's and cousins to teach their baby relatives how to fight, in self-defense physically and with words (and possibly other things, like with computers and so on depending on the setting)? Roy's being a responsible older "sibling/cousin", helping tiny-Artemis practice how to beat up anyone who might bother her. It's Ollie and Dinah and Paula's jobs to teach her about when it is and isn't appropriate to use her fists and feet like that. XD
If someone can concoct the right scenarios, I'm sure a similar method could work for all sorts of "adventures" the kids would like. A few might need some serious personalization, though, since M'gann is non-verbal and probably considerably more non-violent than the others at the moment (no Earth TV to sensationalize the "heroics"), and Conner has absolutely shit strength control with only the sudden recent lack on invulnerability. Hm... Robin is a sneaky hyper little ninja, but if they can tiny-Robin-proof enough of the Cave he can be kept track of somewhat. Maybe some strict Bat-rules would help? Wally has no choice but to work on slowing down if he wants the others to understand his speech, and creating "adventures" in one of the Training Rooms means a ridiculous amount of foam padding everywhere anyway. Zatara might need to be on constant call to be able to mitigate Zatanna's mischievous magic use, but he probably was when she was this small the first time and she should have a lot of lectures on it in her head throughout the years. Kaldur needs lots of swimming, but he's already got a pool in the Cave and is sleeping at home anyway, so as long as the "elders" remember he needs to be dropped into salt water to heal if he gets injured he should be fine - I'm curious what he would make of the imaginary adventuring.
If they can trip some of Bab's Oracle awesomeness she could probably manage some ability-plotting and weave it into the games, though I don't know how good she might be at the imagination part. She probably has the broadest knowledge base of common children's stories and movies to work from, though. Kaldur's friends contributing Atlantean ones as well could balance that out, and they could entertain the kids with alternating stories and movies, as I'm sure there are plenty that most of the tiny Team haven't seen (regardless of memory issues).
I suspect Bab's may be the only one so far who has actual babysitting experience. Semi-normal teenager, and all. Roy admitted he hasn't, the Atlanteans were confused by the concept. Babs' family is fairly middle-class, so she probably babysat a neighbor's kid (if she doesn't have any siblings - sometimes she has a little brother, I think) or helped a friend who was stuck babysitting a sibling at some point. Of course, super-babies aren't normal charges by any means. XD

Super-Sitters~! Oh how cute that would be. An excellent plan to have running, and to work the kinks out of, since some of the Leaguers can pass on their abilities genetically. They'll need it eventually even if the Team gets un-shrunk. Might upset some of the teens, though, with being relegated to babysitting instead of treated like young adults. Might help to remind them that the reason they are needed is because of the threat to the kids, emphasize the trust they are getting in being assigned as such. It's good training - adapting quickly to tricky situations or complications, how to utilize their abilities without injuring "civilians", creative application of resources, … How to keep unruly charges safe without giving in to the need to punch them for being intolerable. (A lot of bodyguarding and protection missions are glorified babysitting, after all, until the fight breaks out.)

Well that works. XD
Dinah recruiting Roy as a SuperBabySitter is certainly one way to keep in touch and also help him out. Creates an excuse for him to interact with others more, gives him a bit of responsibility (even if he has to share with Barbara, probably, especially if they collect all the kids often), she could even use it as an excuse to make sure he eats and sleeps and such, since he'll be run ragged by the babies and get food as thanks along with free crash space so he "doesn't have to lug himself home to sleep unless he wants to". The "adults" have secret-identity-dependent day jobs, mostly, thus the clear need to recruit Babysitters like Roy. It's also a "gesture of trust", leaving him with any of the kids unsupervised. He may not appreciate it once they outnumber him and combine their usual antics with childish energy and enthusiasm, but the argument still holds.
Also, Roy being a "big kid" more than a "grown up" from the kids perspective automatically makes him cooler on top of being a hero (individual specific hero-worship cases nonwithstanding).
*flails a little*
Now I'm imagining the lot of them using the dummies and equipment at the Cave to "play", and the babies trying to help Barbara train - her being the least trained of all of them (except maybe Conner, though the super-strength helps him cheat and usually the invulnerability too). I could totally see her and Roy supervising the kids wreaking havoc on the training room and learning a fair bit themselves in the process of chasing and corraling SuperKids.
"Playing" in the training rooms is brilliant, and a really fun scene with everyone present, but even cuter and more fun than usual when most of the number are tiny!

That was adorable.
Guest chapter 4 . 11/15/2018
*snickers*
Clark probably should have just asked his parents if he and a tiny guest could come over to stay for a while. It's not like he can't commute to work as long as he's careful to cover his tracks for not sleeping at this apartment. XD

lalala chapter 6 . 4/24/2016
Aww can't you continue this and write Bruce's trials? :(
Cartlin chapter 4 . 10/31/2015
That makes no sense including Bruce in that. He's been taking care of Dick for awhile, and while maybe not at age 5, an 8yrold isn't much different. And you don't think ANYTHING to do with the Bat is secured?! Do you know ANYTHING about Batman?!
Guest chapter 6 . 10/27/2015
Love the story.
CuzI'mBatman chapter 2 . 8/5/2015
When Zatanna casts spells the words are backwards not the sentences. For example when saying "Make Wally and Artemis admit there feelings to each other," he would say "Ekam yllaw dna simetra timda ereht sgnileef ot hcae rehto," not "rehto hcae ot sgnileef ereht timda simetra dna yllaw ekam." Hopes this helps :)
