Isn't Balthazar becoming weaker over time?

He was ready to fight Ilias to death, but he gets ou of the probervial 'sp' too fast and gets too much trouble from grunt mons', if he is ally going to try again, souln't he at least try to become stronger?

As for the review, im a huge fan of this story and really like the idea of Balthazar. I never really thought about how things would turn out if another character joined Luka's party.
