(PS. I was thinking of ideas for metaphors, but seeing as I am bad at them, I wasn't going to say anything. But I figured I may as well. What about a clock? To me, Watson is a little like a clock. An analog one, not digital. Steady, solid, trustworthy, informative and vital. Beautiful, even in simplicity. Yet, a clock can't run without batteries. Something to power it, fuel it, keep it working at full capacity. One cannot work without the other. But maybe that's just the ramblings of my crazed mind.)

Great chapter. I like the surface and the subtext and how they intertwine. What they are saying vs. what Joan is thinking...it all weaves together so nicely. And the romantic tension is like sparkling threads of embroidery on the tapestry. How's that for a metaphor, Sherlock?! :-) Thanks for sharing.

I love the way Watson throws him off balance and he's left scrambling for that placid mask that fools nobody. So amusing. "are you hitting on me Watson?" you can practically hear his voice trembling ever so slightly when you read that. Brilliant :) great fic! You can really feel the tension building bit by bit with each chapter. Love it x
