I'm impressed by the quality of this story's writing. The characters are relatable and got me to feel for them.

cute. nice. I like these stories of making Azulon a little more human and someone caring for Zuko who was the biggest victim of child abuse they ever had in a cartoon!

I like how you portray Azulon, he's a much more fleshed out character than the one we got in canon

I loved this. You managed to make these characters so human in their relationships without flinching at their dangerous world. Azulan is a irascible grandfather when loves his son and is happy about his grandson and ALSO a powerful dictator with no equal in rank or power. It's heady stuff. I'd love to read more. :)

Overall, a well-written piece of writing. I have to commend you heartily.

One of the few of fiction written with Azulon involved (relatively speaking). I liked the way you fleshed him out and gave him character, especially in his interaction with Iroh.

My favourites:
Paragraph 30, lines 3 and 4
... hapless children would cheerfully eat a poisoned tart or try to pet a scorpion-kitten left on their beds. Azulon had been the youngest of four brothers and sisters."

I greatly enjoyed the subtle implication of the second sentence here after the first one.

Finally, I found the last 3 lines to be excellently written humour. Keep up the good work!

I like this, may favourite thing about fanfiction is exploring character in more depth. And you manage wonderfully here. We never got all that much of Azulon in the show and what we did was coloured by him acting as the Fire Lord. This though, I would have loved to see this in the show.

Your way ow writing the royal family is amazing. I wish you had written more.

Bahaha. The more I read about everyone writing about Azulon, the more I like the old coot. XD I'm certain that if there were tighter reins on Ozai, Zuko would surely be an active participant in the family. Perhaps even turn out more like his mother. It would make for interesting debates, at the very least.

Beautiful story, this one is so going on my favorites. Why haven't more people reviewed to this, yet? It's got great characterization (especially Azulon, nice job fleshing him out) and I love little Zuko's reactions to his ancestors' names at the end. Great work!

"Azulon would never see the logic behind Iroh's habit of talking to infants and animals as if they could understand him. He himself had tried it only once, when Iroh was an infant, and promptly been vomited upon." That line cracked me up :'D
