I am so hung up on COBERT's fan fiction it has almost become reality for me. I have read this, & other Cobert stories so many times that when one of our "Cobert Groupies"
wrote in a review that upon her reading the prologue. and continued chapters-she
had to stop and go to the story ending to see their fate. I did the same thing! I
had to really take this separation from each other as necessary for Cora and Robert's
last chance to really confront their past even beyond the death of Sybil. Cora in the
series never, until Bricker's entry into her world even talked about her coming to
England for the "Season" a young woman barely out of her teens with her mother hoping to find a husband with a title. Robert, similarly was attracted to her & her money-as his parents needed him to marry an heiress to save Downton. They eventually fell in love (deeply in love) -what must it have been like for them both-
being propelled by their parents to marry as a business transaction like their aristocratic peers-then fall in love with each other. Cora became sensitive about
-Robert's inferring that she didn't belong at Downton- Robert's was hurt & frighten
& by her leaving-Robert loved her-not like the men of his generation & peerage.
I am just memorize by your story telling. I agree with another reviewer that when
I had two very painful surgeries- fan-fiction narratives about COBERT always
modulate my pain meds when I am reading. In fact, I come to the computer to ease my pain. (smiles.) And Cobert narratives especially like this story line never fail to
comfort me physically, and emotionally. (yes, I do know it's fiction, smiles)

I have lost count of how many times I've read this story now, it is absolutely amazing. You always manage to capture the characters of Robert and Cora so thoroughly that I actually hear their voices speaking the lines while I'm reading. I came to the Fandom late but always hope that "incomplete" stories from such talented writers as yourself might someday be finished. Thank you so much for the many hours of enjoyment/angst/laughter/tears you have given me :)

Well I guess I'm a little late to the party...
I've been a Downton Abbey fan and a Cobert shipper since the beginning of the show but I only discovered (or looked for) Fan fictions a couple weeks ago. I guess I just missed new stories with our favourite couple...
There are many lovely fan fictions out there but well, most of the stories show them so out of characters, they are too unbelievable for me.
But then I stumbled upon this FF and I have to say: THANK YOU. Thank you for your lovely style, thank you for understanding the characters, thank you for the emotions and the very plausible story you told here.

You should write a novel, honestly. You write beautifully and with such depth... Sybil's death is not an easy subject, but you treated their feelings with such precision and care... I have read this story twice now and it definitely is one of the best (if not the best) ever written for Cobert. Thank you so so much xxx

I am not normally one to show much for emotion while reading, and even less during movies, until I am very alone. But this is incredible, and the wealth of emotion it pulled from me...very few people or stories have ever been able to. Just, wow! I've almost read every one if your Downton stories now, and I am in awe. Thank you!

I'm going to read the rest but, before I do, I'm just going to tell you that chapter 1 was so sad I cried. I loved it, but dear god that was heartbreaking! Now I shall continue. Wish me luck.

Just reread this for probably the third time and got SO many feels and sighs and I just love what you've done here...I love how Cora is all over the place but Robert is so persistent in his love for her and pursuing her, once he gets his act together after the first few chapters! I loved incorporating letters from the girls and Cora's shock over Downton being left in disarray and Robert's promise to just be where ever she is, because he truly can't live without her. And it was refreshing to see a scene where he is jealous of someone's attentions with her, but reacts in a mature way, respects her wishes and the distance. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child and having an actual reason to blame or fault your spouse for some role in it, and I can't imagine how I would react to it, but this was very believable to me. Job well done!
