Your kind of Beckett is sounds selfish from the first chapter. it seems like she always think about what she wants and whether she is ready or not for whatever reason. But what about things Castle wants from this relationship. You guys seem to miss Castle's part of relationship a lot.

Just reread this so I could refresh for the Christmas fic chapter ... still amazed by it. LOVE this fic. So true to both characters.

Castle is partly right in that working for the federal government would allow Bracken greater influence in deciding what Kate can do.

Just read this through in one sitting. I really enjoyed it. I thought you made so many great choices, and gave great explanations into both of their motives throughout. So well done.

Kate, honey, problem... you'll 'scratch and claw' for 5 years to get where you need to be in order to get Bracken... wait, what did Mercer teach us? You job has a shelf life of the term of the present AG... which is probably less than 5 years... so... again, what is the actual point of this exercise? That is, unless you turn yourself into Stack, which would probably necessitate breaking up with Castle or at least relegating him to a booty call... how does that help make the hypothetical children she's fighting for a reality?

Eh, can't buy into it. As you set up with Mercer, Beckett did *zero* research into exactly what this job entailed. And, as she found out with the authorities, most people have never even heard of her organization, so it has zero pull. If her reasoning was to nail Bracken with this career move then she's no better than Don Quixote tilting at windmills in how she's going about it.
