usually death fics don't really get to me, but you managed to set up the POV perfectly...so that not only the inner dialogue seemed natural, but the twist ending worked just as well. rather than seeming like something that was thrown in there as a surprise, rather than everything lex was saying seeming as if he was just making excuses, it all made excellent sense. at least to me.
