Yay! I'm so glad that at least they agreed to leave Kurt alone themselves. Of course it would have been nice if they'd also stood up for him, but you were absolutely right not to go that route because it probably wouldn't have been realistic given the situation.

I'm delighted by how much Jake and Ryder did grow as people and of course the journey of their relationship was outstanding! Excellent character progression! Fantastic job!

Whew! I was thinking Ryder might freak out! I'm so glad he stopped Jake and confessed his own feelings! It looks like everything is working out for them!

I was pleasantly surprised by Ryder's dream at the end, because for most of the rest of the chapter it had seemed like Jake was developing unreciprocated feelings for Ryder. I was rather annoyed with Ryder for not being at all sensitive to Jake's feelings with regard to his anxiety about the dance recital and his lukewarm agreement to show up. Then of course Matthew pointed out that Ryder looked like he wanted to fuck Jake while Jake looked like he wanted to make love to Ryder and yeah, it seemed like Jake was about to get the shaft, and definitely the F-ing one rather than the loving one. So yeah big relief when at the end it looked like Ryder had feelings for Jake after all. I can't wait for them to work this out!

Whoa! That was a really hot chapter! I was surprised at the turn things took, but also not because you built up to it really well. It was just a nice, 'Wow! So this is happening' kinda thing. I'm so glad they decided to go this route and I hope it helps them come to accept themselves and other people. Jake certainly owes Kurt for the literally life changing conversation after all, lol. Great job with this chapter! Definitely my favorite yet.

I really saw them get closer in this chapter! With Ryder covering for Jake like that and admitting his trouble with reading to him. It was also really nice how dedicated Jake was to helping Ryder and how he slowly seems to be becoming aware of his feelings. So eager to see what happens next!

Wow! This was quite an amusing take on everything! Also, I know it's weird but in my head while I'm reading this, I'm still imagining them and everyone else in black and white. I didn't even notice I was doing it until the end, but anyway I take it to mean I'm well immersed in the dream world, so excellent job!

It was a great idea to have Ryder struggle with reading the campaign poster like that, especially since the words were made up. Also I loved how Jake felt a calling to dance like that during Artie's performance. Brilliant way to characterize them both as themselves even in this heavily AU world. Haha and of course I got a kick out of them "throwing the gay ball around" and repeatedly freaking out and accusing each other.

Through it all though, what really struck me was the sweet way they supported each other. Even with their changed personas it was obvious they cared about each other with Ryder encouraging Jake to pursue his dancing and Jake offering to help Ryder with his homework. It was even more striking given that from Ryder's POV in this story Jake's desire to dance is quite shameful. By the same token if Jake doesn't even normally bother doing his own homework, it really says something that he's willing to go the extra mile to help Ryder. So yeah, despite their jerky behavior, I'm actually quite impressed with the ways they each got it right and I can't wait to watch their feelings (and I hope inner compassion) bloom.

I really liked the ending with that heated little scene between them. I also liked the fact that the world didn't magically turn into a better place, which you showed really well with the scene, where the other football players are harassing Kurt and Jake and Ryder do not join in but don't do anything to stop the other guys either.

You really managed to get them from a strictly physical relationship to an actual realtionship. I loved how Jake tried a more gentle approach and how Ryder actually went with it, comparing it to his dream. That part where Ryder contemplates that Jake seems more concerned about making him happy with the slower kiss than with his own needs/urges fit that scene perfectly. I also liked how towards the end of that scene they are back to being rough and frantic. This is what makes the whole change in their relationship believable. They both realized that they have feelings for each other but that doesn't mean they're running around like love-sick fools all of a sudden.
Wow, you've really found a way to work in SAB idea with Jake talking to Puck. I was rather suprised by how useful Puck's input was and it was sweet that he admitted he'd settle down for Quinn if she ever gave him the chance.
And finally that twist that Ryder actually listened in on the conversation and convinced himself Jake was being so sweet and gentle with him because he was saying goodbye. Ryder's reaction when Jake told him that he was talking about him and not a girl, felt genuine and I could really picture his face in that scene.
As usual, you did a great job with this new chapter!

I like how you're slowly getting the guys to a place where it's not rough/aggressive and just about physicality (as you put it so nicely). Jake being distracted because he's worried about his recital felt very realistic and I loved how Ryder picked up on something being off and called him on it. The fact that his reaction to Jake's worries made him look like a bit of an ass (when he pointed out that no one cared if he messed up because it was only a dance recital) made the whole thing even more believable in this alternative universe. And the end of that scene in which they're making out after Ryder somehow agrees to go to the recital and Jake panics and shoved Ryder off his lap, when his mom gets home, was priceless.
What I also really liked about this chapter was the parallel structure which showed the key scenes that actually get both guys thinking about their "bros helping out bros" pact and how there might be feelings involved.
To me it felt like Jake was the first one to feel some kind of spark between them, so him dealing with the feelings/relationship issue during the dance recital made sense. Ryder, who in my opinion has been one step behind of that issue, seems to be subconsciously dealing with his new feelings, too, given that he was dreaming about Jake and how he was asking him to be his boyfriend. I had a really big and goofy smile on my face when I tried to imagine Jake in a cheerios uniform. Seeing Blaine or, before that, Kurt, in those uniforms was one thing but Jake's built it so much broader that I'm really having trouble decided whether it would look hot or terrible on him but thanks for setting my imagination running wild with that intriguing image.
You also found the right balance between both guys considering the option of becoming more emotionally invested and trying to hold onto the way things are because feelings would complicate everything.
I'm loving this story and I really can't wait to see what's going to happen next.
