(The folks that build those boats are by and large VERY patriotic; they HATE that their products got used for drug-smuggling.) |
| PGHammer chapter 10 . 1/30 The USMS SOG is real; it is the predecessor of the Regional Warrant Squadrons. The SOG is still based at USMS headquarters in Pentagon City/Arlington, VA (one block from DEA headaquarters). The RWS got around the problem with the original SOG - it couldn't get everywhere fast enough. The USMS already was organized into regions; therefore you had one Warrant Squadron per region. The Warrant Squadrons report to SOG HQ. |

The USMS variant is, in fact, based on the USMC variant of the Osprey; it would be used for RWS (Regional Warrant Squadron) operations. (The Osprey was, in fact, designed to have many MANY uses; it was never a strictly military design. At least one air-ambulance Osprey was, in fact, built; the common-sense reason is that one Osprey can carry as many patients as three air ambulances; the pickle is that the Osprey requires a larger landing pad than an air-ambulance.) |
