I loved it and I too was struck by the way Booth was so specific in his choice of numbers - very well reasoned out and i think you nailed it. Well written and interesting story.

This is really sweet. Just one little quibble: I don't think Booth would rank either of his children above the other; he would feel like a bad father if he consciously played favorites, so they would be tied for second. But, I realize that you probably had to work it out that way for the sake of the story.

I liked it. I can absolutely see Sweets rationalizing and explaining everything on what is essentially an imaginary list!

No, M, you should definitely NOT limit yourself to angst! This was a beautiful little peek inside Sweets' mind and I think you really pegged him, really had his voice and his personality.

I laughed initially when I saw the title and the synopsis because I had reacted to Booth's comments the same way when the episode aired - "Sixth!? How can there be six whole people he loves more than Sweets? So wrong." - and after the show was over I sat and tried to reason out the list just as you had Lance doing. Funny too, I came up with the same list, right down to Jared, although limbo reader has a good point about their strained relationship.

Anyway, there are so many small details that make this story come to life, from the ticking clock and Sweets' increasing annoyance with it to the description of his wadded up paper as a yellow snowball.

And I love the balance of fluff - the overall spirit and theme of the story and Lance's quirky and adorable personality - to the serious undertones - "I almost died today and I'm not ready to deal with that just yet."

Lovely lovely lovely and don't you dare give up writing fluff for Sweets! :D

This was a nice read from the always interesting perspective of Sweets. Throwing a kink into the second half of his introspection, though, I highly doubt Jared would make a list of favorite people. He loves him, yeah, but I don't think he likes him enough for fave people status. BUT that being said, from Sweets' perspective, he may not see it that way. Wonderful little shot either way!
