Reviews for Brotherly Love
CelticBoudicca chapter 5 . 11/30/2013
This story is so simple, yet I love it.
I've spotted a few grammar errors on the way - but you're forgiven. It seems that you've done your research on the colonial era (hopefully), since you seem to have quite a bit of information correct.
I'd give this an eight out of ten, I'm enjoying it so far. :D

I don't understand why this hasn't got more reviews.
Guest chapter 4 . 9/18/2013
Pippa, you shouldn't wish such things. Because soon you won't have a sibling at all… Poor Jack, he thinks he isn't enough for Pippa.

I love this story!
Emma Overland-Fr chapter 3 . 6/26/2013
I forgot to say in my other review of this chapter, that Jack says something we all should do well to remember: "Where there's bad, good is just around the corner to make it all better." You should be proud of a;; these stories; they're wonderful! :)
God Bless You,

Emma Overland-F chapter 5 . 6/25/2013
Jack to Bly: "I'm not afraid of you."
Same thing he says to Pitch and his literal night-"mares" 300 years later. Oh, the irony!

I love this. Poor Jack will do anything for his little sis, including getting beaten up by a horse. I love how, while he's on the horse's back he wants to be on the ground, and when he's on the ground, suddenly the horse's back wasn't so bad. Nice contrast there.

And my favorite quote: "...But not what I was referring to." Gently, he picked up her little hand and held it in his calloused one. "It gets me on a bed full of bruises, with my little sis bringing me lemonade. That's where it gets me." How sweet! :)

I can't believe I've reached the end...for now. Please oh please, update soon! I want to see what happens to Jack and Pippa next!
God's Blessings,
Emma Overland-Frost
Emma Overland-F chapter 4 . 6/25/2013
*sniffs* Sad Jack... oh, the feels! Why the feels?! *sobs along with Jack*
This is a great chapter! As always, love the Jack/Pippa interaction. I love how she's transforming into a little lady, trying to be like her mother. I also like how she's torn between Jack and her Ma, goofing around with him and trying to be proper with her. It's only natural little Pippa would want to have a big sister, to show her the ropes. Still, it's so heartbreaking reading Jack listening to Pippa confiding in someone else...and his crush, no less! I also like how, at the end, Jack thinks of the little ways he can try harder to be there for Pippa, to be more of a help to her as she grows up. Some guys should take a cue from that one, not just in sibling relationships, but in romantic ones, as well.
Good work, again!
Moving on to chapter five...
God's Blessings on you and your writing,

Emma Overland-F chapter 3 . 6/25/2013
This is, by far, my favorite chapter of all!
I can tell you are an older sibling; you got the Jack/Pippa interaction down perfectly. How Pippa asks a multitude of questions, and Jack answers them all with unending amounts of patience. What a sweet big brother.
I also love your explanation for Jack's staff: he's a shepherd. Who would have though of that? In my mind, shepherd Jack is now cannon. And I love how you make him so skilled at his job, knowing how to deliver lambs. Readers can tell you did your research. Very good work!

And you came up with all that just by eating Nutella? I need to go get myself some now...
Blessings,
Emma Overland-Frost
Emma Overland-F chapter 2 . 6/25/2013
LOVE! Another awesome oneshot of protective Jack! You've got his character down perfectly. And Pippa, too. It's adorable how she tries to drag her beloved big brother to safety. I love how Jack tries to distract Pippa from her fears in the tree. So sweet! Incredible job once again!
I must now make an analogy: these oneshots are like potato chips. They're addicting, and I can't stop at just one. Good work. ;)

Emma Overland-F chapter 1 . 6/25/2013
Have been looking for AGES to find a decent Jack/little sister story! I was so happy to find yours! A majority of the stories out there about Jack and his little sis use modern expressions, and the writing and the siblings' interactions do not fit the time period AT ALL. Your story, however, not only fits the time period, but has fantastic writing, realistic characters, and is entertaining to boot!
So, now that I've gotten my "there are so few decent Jack/sister stories" rant out of the way, let's move on to an actual review of this chapter:
I love this chapter, and how Jack stands up for his little sis. The twist at the end was fantastic, and...poor Jack. Putting himself out there, only to find the scuffle was Pippa's fault in the first place...
Keep up the good work! :)

oO Whispers In The Dark Oo chapter 4 . 6/1/2013
I liked this chapter! Poor Jack, feeling like he isn't enough for Pippa, and poor Pippa who doesn't realize that soon she won't have an older brother OR sister. Please keep writing. Update soon. :D
