I loved your version of events in this fic. I don't think I'll ever forgive JBF for only giving us two seasons of the wonderful Sybil Crawley, but at least writers like you can help to fill the void!

Congrats on completing such a great story! Mary was right in letting Sybil be the one to tell everyone, which I think was her own way of supporting her sister. And I love that Violet's pragmatism (even if it was to salvage an 'untoward' situation at least from society's perspective) steps in and offers for Tom to stay at her house. Love your stories always and sad to see this one end, but it has definitely been one of my favorites and truly well done.

A nice ending to an enjoyable story. I like the way you had Sybil break the news to her family (especially her sisters).

This is really interesting to see Mary making up excuses to go out with the chauffeur instead of Sybil. It mirrors wonderfully a common theme with this pairing in a completely new way. Love it! :)

Oooh, exciting! Mary off to talk to Tom! I love the intimacy of Mary confiding in Matthew in this chapter! :)

This is precious! - I’m still catching up, sorry. - But the morning after scene was so sweet and then later telling Mary, only for her to think it was a joke was brilliant! :)

Excellent authors note at the end. It is important to point this out about your favorite pairing. No matter how well the final confrontation is handled, it gets repetitive and eventually people get tired of it. Which incidentally is one of the reasons I enjoy your Life is What Happens story, as it focuses on these two after the announcement.

The ending here is great, it combines the lesser used elements of Mary, Edith and Violet's reaction with the understanding that the essence of the story is the journey to the final meeting, not the destination itself.
