I know it's been a year, so naturally, I'm inclined to believe this story won't be continued, but if you happen to see this, consider it?

The most recent chapter ends with a note on what'll happen in the next chapter, which means that you had it written out, or in the very least scarcely planned out. If that chapter exists and has simply not been posted yet, just know that you have an audience ready and waiting for it.

I joined the Yu-Gi-Oh fandom reasonably late considering when it was released and I instantly took to puzzleshipping because of the chemistry and bond Yugi and Yami shared. Although he was a mere spirit with no past or identity, he still dedicated himself to the safety of another and came to call him his partner. Although I find it romantic, thinking about it, a lot of their relationship is purely circumstantial. Yugi rescued him from eternal darkness, so Yami, the brave and altruistic person he is, him taking an interest in his rescuer's safety is plausible. And since they shared a body and could feel each other's thoughts and emotions, no wonder they bonded so well.

This story acknowledges those ideas indirectly; the idea that put under the right circumstances, Yugi and Yami -better known as Atem- could despise each other. Without obligation or a mind link, Atem appears as a brash and confident man while Yugi seemed as a inherit wallflower that had managed to succeed in all that Atem hadn't, including charming the people of the palace. Yet, although they hate one another (which is mostly caused by Atem's irritation hate of Yugi), eventually (as in, where the story is at present), they manage to get along, and maybe more than get along.

Not only is the plot wonderfully thought out, the characterization, as I have explained, is true to the original while still being twisted by circumstantial measures. The story is also well-written and has good pacing, which is hard to find in a fanfiction.

I know it may be considered worthless to attempt to reach out when the story seems over, and I am unaware of your real-life obligations or what you might be going through right now, but if the circumstances are right, consider continuing this story. I am a writer myself, so I am not demanding that you update because I understand that things -namely writers' block- happen, but if you see this and you can continue this story, I'm in your corner, eagerly awaiting the next chapter and sorry that I couldn't have been cheering you on before.

Finally found a moment of sure peace (fresh bedsheets and dogs booted out) and caught up on the latest!

Oh BOY I am NOT disappointed! This story has had quite the arc and the flow of it all is just—marvelous. I’m quite content with everything considering I came into this journey with doubts about a heterosexual pairing, as it has never scratched my reading itch. You’ve done a beautiful job, love!

I’m so very ready for the next chapter, I can’t wait to see more of this blossoming relationship—unless you go dark like you did in Gambit’s plot! Which, mind all of you reading this, Van lies! Gambit did not break hearts... oh no, it devastated lives; people in utter despair and writhing in sheer pain, screeching expletives. Most let out gutteral sounds that mimicked the moan of a defeated warrior in battle—some staring off into nothing, tears pouring down their broken and raw cheeks.

Fantastic story though. It’s a damn good read that’s just about worth the bitter taste from pieces of the story. Lol.

That was actually adorable; I'm so sorry Yugi had to go through that but I'm so proud of Atemu.
...slightly worried that Dartz will poison all of Europe to the idea of getting along with the Sultan Atemu and use this to actually sic a crusade on them. But Atemu does have good relations still with Britton I assume, and the British, despite admiring the French culturally, have rarely ever agreed with the French on anything politically, so honestly they might just take Atemu's side out of spite, if only because believing Atemu and spreading that the King of France tried to sexually assault the wife of a Christian king means having an excuse to knock the French down a peg on the international scene. But it would be little but something to mock him for behind closed doors even if people did believe: no one really cared, back then. It's the great, sad truth of Western culture: women historically were only believed if they had a man willing to believe them and an audience willing to listen to that man (which is sadly sometimes still true today).
(But really: why did Atemu invite the French in the first place, when he was an ambassador in Britton?)
Here's to hoping the East makes it through whatever the West thus plans.

i also liked the talk of religion which being a spiritual person and a catholic (and i ay SPIRITUAL NOT RELIGIOUS) I can understand both sides of their argument: i felt exavyly what Atem felt, but Yugi never did because she never had a reaosn too-and sadly back then the catholic church as viokently against what was differnt (again this is why i say spritiuual not religious) Faith is never the problem its the people PRACTICINGNit that ar, and it makes sense Yugi found more love and faith with the gods of the east (who are similar enough to the christan god and his angels and even the devil cough apopisough) that if you really want to make an argument its ll the same religion just worshped differently-which lead to the foundong of protestatism, but it makses aense and wha's important here is Atem WANTS to share that with Yugi but Yugi has no desire to for understandable reasons (as Atem has jus now learned)
i also loved the witch imagery too and yug's own inner guit trip becaue it makes sense e eryone who has been in this situation feelt sthis way even if they were clearly and obviouly not at fault and she fullt expcted atem to turn on her which maybe a yer ago he mgiht have but when he idn't i was honestly hoping he's give dartz a superior dressing down but i say let the spoiled brat think he's won and let his father deal with him or worse bring a crusade and let the whole thing die in the desert (especially given the french have always been about "playing war" than actually fighting...but damn that was such a strong moment between them. Atem beleived her: not just common sense but because he believed her and knows her and that single moment probably meant more to Yugi than anything else!

it also makes sense why yugi is so againt affection and physical intimacy: its her pride and her independence, the one thing she hs thats hers and she's afraid of fire: and again i LOVED the use if imagery and looking back through the story can see it: yugi hates fire because all her relatives have been burned alive, the fires of hell so to speak, but also men in eupe (and also here as atem is an example) are braen and fiery with their tempers and strength and whie fier is indeed hot and destructive its's also gentle and warm as Atem was here, Yugi herself is like water: WATEr not ice: she's calm cool collected and even but wlling to change shape and mold to fit the situation but her own personality remaines uncontainable and unbreakable: these two are literally FIRE AND WATER! I mean oh my god what an allusion!

I'm sad next chapter is the last but damnit this story is phenomenal and amazing! and i'm curious to see what this "era" atem and yugi will be closingon, ater all the end of one era is simply the start of a new one...
and i'm even more excited for Regicide! damn it sounds exciting and i love the idea of Yugi and Ymai on the rebel side and Atem eing the diabolical "tyrant" amkes me wonder what role Heba will play...God i'm so excited and YAY! Well caught you by surprise didn't he Yugi honestly yes the two of you were at each other's throats but that is precisely why he didn't throw you to the wolves over such a bold faced like you, throw yourself at him when you wanted unleash a plague on him after his suggestion of a crusade mere days ago. Of course Atemu would have to be beyond moronic to think you would ever seek to invite him let alone seek any kind of tryst when you have not done so with anyone. You said it yourself you'd much rather have his father if he was younger or you older or Mahad but alas you can't. Hell even Timaeous you were far more affectionate with and still nothing. So of course he'd believe you loveless you may stand but no one ever could accuse Atemu of being an idiot certainly not with you since he's gone so far out of his way to remove himself of the stagnant state jealousy and hatred has left him in your seeing who he truly is a passionate vibrant but skillful man the fact that he is so careful about his faults is because of his acute awareness of his surroundings for starters. Yes his jealousy and hatred left him somewhat blind to how badly his behavior had become to you but that was and are the two single most hardest emotions to overcome the greatest of course is Hatreds opposite side but your not there yet and since Jealousy and Hatred have gone down to nothing but ash and sand in the wind he's much more able to view things clearer and see your not that kind of woman nor would you do something so obviously out of character and as he said would find it insulting if you did hell the entire family would have and he's lucky they don't rip him to shreds for it fierce and fiery your home maybe but they would NOT contend to have coercion in their ranks like that yes arranged marriages are a given but that is always a time based thing Dartz was clearly a wretched fool hungering for the fruit too far out of his reach and took a nasty stumble for it and a hearty jibe to go with it cause indeed his fellow ruler is far more mindful then that. It is sad he took note of your distance with each other but at least now he can see that the distance has not prevented you two from doing what you know you should and have. To hell with him anyways if he can't take a No for an answer and think he can get away with such a ludicrous lie given as I said that entire family knows you never would since you haven't yet and you would not lash out at someone in blind temper since you haven't with him who has done near worse then coercion he near had a mini witch hunt on you and you never once bashed his brains in so yeah hardly a decent lie to go on for someone who knows you TOO well at this point but at least you both stand on stronger ground now because of it plus it's not like Dartz wins the outcome he's lost humiliated and has now squandered the union if he seeks retribution I doubt it will fair too well for him regardless keep up the great work gtg now JA NE

huh well least things stand on a bit more better footing and I concede to the fact that Atemu's lashing out was quite immature if anything it reminded me of Zelda from Breath of the Wild did anyone else catch that. Here is someone who has tried so hard to be all that he has ever wanted all he seeks as a second son that's about as rough of a spot to be in as the third child as Kyouya Otori can vouch for when you have a gifted skilled and aspiring elder sibling you eternally seek their praise their respect their own admiration for your growth and aptitude towards the world. But as Yugi as leveled out neither his father nor Mahado had any shame did they have faults obviously but never cared about them for who could or would object he had a sprawling empire and constantly growing family and an enchanting little one to dote on him in his dying years what more could he ask for in such a full life. But in contrast Atemu never felt accomplished fulfilled never got that completion how could he when everywhere he turned he was met with failure disgrace and shame that all he did mounted to scorn from his father and viewed as immature and lacking by his family. Further still as stated by his own sister he's far to sensitive and passionate far more like a woman of their clan then a man further still he longed for someone to love him not just use him to further the necessities of the practicalities of their fierce environment he was more heart then the blunt full force of I got my target and aiming for it goals of his family which is to further the said family all that matters to them is ensuring the ever constant strength of the pride hearts and love be dammed as testament to how brushed off Atemu was about his feelings on the matter and finally adding to it Atemu is much like Zelda determined to try and make a stand an impression on his own without help and certainly any inclusion of Yugi into the mix and falling short every time while she rises to the challenge every step of the way fitting in far more and easily then he ever could sent off to Europe for goodness sake no one else was sent way only he was as if his very presence in the family was annoying. not to say it justifies him hell it hardly justified Zelda given the end result but it leaves him feeling such a failure and at the end of all that grieving anger and hatred he's left empty he has nothing left he's exhausted spent and worse yet riddled to the brim with guilt and shame over how short he came to the finish line and as I said that man never does shame halfway he buries himself in it drowns himself in misery cause he feels he can never make up for it feels less then a bug before those he's acted so badly towards namely Yugi so he avoids her tries to talk kindly but waits for the whip the crack the sting of the whim like a christian waiting for the lash of his sin to sting his already welted back it really is sad he treats himself so hard and badly and while yes the truth will have to surface at some point it's not the birth that worries me it's the additional wait of failure that he couldn't even conceive a child of his own that does that in the end he is doomed to digrace and shame everything he touches or has anything to do with that is not pushed onto him by duty. As for the rest of them what did they expect she still has yet to know him let alone see the angry hateful man was only ever a facade it was never real from the start frankly I'm amazed she didn't notice jealousy is so obvious lord knows thats why the so called holy faith hates her way of things they are jealous that their origins are not the first nor have they ever been it's also funny that way like science and holistic both seem to have nothing in common nor anything to do with each other but in reality need each other more then they know but to science cold logic holistic makes no sense and to holistic science cant be trusted so there is that to consider as well but if they let that go and work together as nature and tech are meant to they can do amazing things but they gotta let the old views flow away first keep up the great work gtg now JA NE
