ConstructiveRomance chapter 36 . 7/20 This was such a joy to read, thank you. You crafted almost another universe in this story, taking bits from magic lore and expanding on HP universe magic rather creatively. There's references that absolutely went well over my head, but it didn't matter, I didn't need that context to enjoy the story and that's important. You don't rely on the reader to know that information. The first few chapters were incredibly in character, I thought. You handled Harry's reaction to Sirius and the DoM fiasco brilliantly. This, combined with Dumbledore telling him about the prophecy, created the perfect storm and you really kept him remarkably in character. I liked the marked difference from canon in that regard, him revealing his anger to Dumbledore in such a forceful way that he was allowed the option to stay at Hogwarts for the summer. You had an OC character, but he was rather likeable which is no easy feat. I liked when he was explaining the light from his world and Hermione said is that not what magic is here? Excellent link, enjoyed that, and helped us as the reader understand better the light. He was honest, helpful, and I think what really endeared him to me was that there was no cryptic mystery. The knight (whose name I can't remember) never tried to hide his world, stories, magic, job. He saw there was a darkness to be fought and gave all the tools he could. Gave him credibility. I loved your Harry. I think I liked your Hermione - she was a bit cringey at times, operation Quidditch or whatever, being his assistant, but that doesn't mean it's out of character unfortunately haha. I loved that you retained her usefulness, willingly involving herself and helping in any way possible and that she insisted on being always in battle. This is going to sound ridiculous, but one of my favourite parts were Luna and the Quibble articles. The one with Hermione/Harry at Slughorns party made me laugh. The interaction with Luna before was great too. 'Luna, are you angry?' Ron was woefully lacking, but what we did see was enjoyable and heartwarming. You wrote him and Lavender wonderfully. They were still gross, but you could see how good they were for each other. It makes total sense for them to move fast and HHR to take it slow, I liked that too. I'm not sure how I feel about the whole life dedication of paladin. I wasn't sure about that whole thing to be honest. OH I loved the progression with Voldemort and just the whole plot really, very well planned out. The battle scene was enthralling, and I usually hate those. It had such a Game of Thrones vibe, especially at the start when the undead are just standing outside. Loved it. I've so much to say (clearly) but I'm going to stop rambling. Thank you very much for writing such an entertaining, unique story and good luck with your future writing :) CR. |
Lordlexx chapter 9 . 7/14 Hermione's track record of needing protecting is against her at this point. |
Lordlexx chapter 5 . 7/14 Snape is a person to blame too.. it took them, at minimum, 3 hours to reach the ministry from Hogwarts. Unless the Order is just that disappointingly slow the he sure took his sweet time telling them. I wish authors wouldn't just pass over all of Dumbledore's wrong doing like you did. Not telling him the prophecy is one thing, not actually giving him proper training is another. |
Lordlexx chapter 4 . 7/14 This chapter read like a medival version of The Karate Kid. And made less sense. He should be learning magic. He has the whole of the library and the Room of Requirement. He can blow things up just as effectively as chop some logs and he'd actually be learning something useful. |
Shadow's blood 3288 chapter 23 . 5/16 Boomdog of owns the rights to Baldur's Gate as in the video game but WoWC owns the rights to the D&D franchise as a whole. |
Hadrian Eveningshade chapter 2 . 5/8 And bloody fcking useless potter.. Stupid |
Books85 chapter 11 . 4/21 Oh my, those hormones are raising their heads! Jodhpurs are notorious for making the boys (and girls) look twice. I wonder if Harry ever turns around and notices the girls checking his butt out? Fireworks ahead! Thank you, again. A lovely story. |
Books85 chapter 10 . 4/21 Oh, that last scene just gave me a flash of a comic sketch; McGonnagal and Firecam are opposite sides of the frame giveing each other the side-eye with a slight smile while Harry stands in between, eyes shut tight, a finger in each ear and singing la la la. It is a funny sight. Harry's gradual growing awareness that a) Hermione is quite a pretty girl and b) that she is interested in him! Very funny, too. As is Luna's bumbling about Hermione's project: enlighten Harry Potter. Thanks again! |
Books85 chapter 9 . 4/21 I confess that I am a bit concerned about Hermione's parents. I wonder what she did to get her way about going back to Hogwarts this summer. I doubt that any parents would be happy about letting their child go back to a school in the summer after she nearly was killed in a fight along with other students against criminals in a government building. We know that she obliviated her parents after book 6; how is what Harry did in Diagon Alley different? Both were trying to keep loved ones from danger. Thank you for writing this. |
Books85 chapter 8 . 4/21 I am always s amused by Harry's total obliviousness. You would think he realized Hermione was a girl in 4th year, but he maintains his lack of awareness that she is interested in him. I like the new prophecy and the new character. (I'm not a video game player, so he's new to me.) Thanks for writing! |
Manus Dei chapter 36 . 4/3 I know a thing or two about long delays between updates. I thought I could simply write a new story piece by piece until it was completed and then upload in regular chunks, but those things take on a life of their own and other obligations still get in the way. The world is definitely a mess and one has to wonder where exactly Voldemort pulled the power for that stunt (my guess would be something related to the Weave bleeding through). Either way, there's an uncertain future ahead. |
Manus Dei chapter 35 . 4/3 Carsomyr is still a temperamental prick. It would have been a bloody massacre if it hadn't changed its mind at the last second. |
Manus Dei chapter 32 . 4/3 Carsomyr is just useless. If it's going to act like a contrarian piece of crap all the time and abandon those in need, it might as well just get melted. Actually, the blade is acting in a very disgraceful manner. Should fall for denying aid to those in need. |
Manus Dei chapter 30 . 4/3 For all his newfound power, Voldemort is still an idiot. |
Manus Dei chapter 29 . 4/3 Well, that was to be expected. Someone like Voldemort who only gets his jollies by killing would pounce on the opportunity to go lich. |
