Oh MAN your oc is amazing! There are fuck all ocs in this fandom, let alone paired with Hiruma! Yours is magnificent, she's exactly what I like, human but sassy as possible in her circumstances without being rude. Except to Hiruma. He deserves it, and the banter is top. It's almost been 2 years since you've updated, but I hold onto hope you might update randomly soon. Seriously though, I lost my shit several times reading this fic, mostly the banter and swearing. Love it

About Hiruma backstory, we get a few good hints in the manga, so it's king of easily to imagine his father. Since he was some kind of Shogi professional player who had a super offensive game, but for unknown reasons started to play carefully and in total defensive style. So he lost more and more and just said "At least I could say I tried" or something like that and apparently Hiruma hated that, and seemed to see his father as a sort of looser ? Anyway, that explain A LOT about Hiruma's ultra offensive gameplay and tactics. I think he stopped having any contact with him in a long time. We saw a scene in the anime when he got an unknown phone call from a mysterious man calling him by his first name, and we really see in his expression a hint of genuine sadness. I really liked that about the anime. Then he just end up the call without saying anything and throw his phone in a trashcan. However, in the manga, at the end of the christmas bowl, we learn that his father's name is Yuuya, he assisted to the Devil Bat's match. And Hiruma acknowledged him, he smiled. Even if he didn't want to have any contact with him, knowing he watched their match somehow made him smile. That's a curious point I can't really explain to myself. That's my point of view about what we learned from the manga/anime. And for his mother, we don't know a single thing, but I doubt she's actually alive. My theory is just htat she may be blond ! I just need to explain to myself Hiruma's choice in hair color. Which would mean he feels himself more close to his mother than his father, since he considers him ad being a bad role model ?
I'm confusing myself now, better stop. I see a lot of people inventing things about his family than actually using the facts. I would love seeing them in your story. But I encourage you to do as you wish !

I get that you're trying to play off the difficulty of learning another language but the overly formal dialect makes what could be a good story frustrating to read.
