Wow.. a short story but very deep. And very symbolic too.

This is such a wonderful story - short, but very powerful, and so beautifully written that even this cynical Jewish girl was effected by those final lines. :)

But the stranger reached out, compressed his chest, shocked his heart and touched his soul, squeezed the stone until it bled, burned the wood 'til it was naught but ash. A breath of life, and the man of dust again became a man of flesh, a phoenix rising from the flames, sputtering, choking, retching up the Seine. EPIC LINES. You are a good writer.

That was beautiful. I love how you use religion in your stories. I also love how you show it wasn't just Javert's life saved, it was his soul as well.

Dear CaptainHooksGirl: This story is brief, but I loved it, especially the O. Henry ending! I did not see that coming at all. Loved it! Please, write more stories about Javert! He is my favorite character in "Les Miserables," strangely enough-possibly because in the recent musical movie version with Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe, I find Crowe's version of the Inspector to be weirdly attractive. Just wanted to let you know that your stories about Inspector Javert have been a wonderful blessing to read! Please keep writing them!

This one is short, simple, and yet soooo powerful! Thank you for writing it! I consider it a companion piece to "Nothing More" since I can't bear the thought of Javert dying in such a way. Poor, broken and lost boy! For really, he is a boy...and a man...and I'm rambling, lol. Needless to say, your stories just make me feel so much.

Keep writing them! Oh and if Valjean makes an appearance or two more and helps our dear inspector (or befuddles him, whichever works best, lol) that would be all right to. You did a great job with Valjean in a previous story. And I owe you reviews for those too.
