Isn't that just exactly what Merlin would end up doing though? Telling children stories of his and Arthur's adventures while showing them with smoke. You nailed it head on. I really loved this fic, it was so sweet and whumpy and everything I enjoy reading. I particularly liked how the townspeople were getting the amulets and yelling that it was Merlin's fault! because in so many fics Arthur legalizes magic and that's it, Happy Ending. Which is so not how it would go, magic was illegal for many, many years, and everyone has been constantly reminded of how evil magic is. Word, such a great fic. Perfect length, everyone was exceptionally in character. Nice work!
