first off - loved your definition of your story - a fix-it fic! and this story was just lovely - just what the fandom doctor ordered! and absolutely agree with your/Cheryl's statement: 'don't let anyone tell you how to live this...this is yours.' too right! and the scene where you have Ste laying in Brendan's bed & breathing in Brendan's smell is just the thing loved ones do - that's so truthful and wish it could've been shown in storyline. and I was pleased at how you wrote Doug in this - tentative & supportive without being overbearing or harsh, just being there for Ste. and you acknowledged what I've always feared, the village would only remember: 'the monster was slain.'; but then you counter that with the beautiful scene between Ste & Fr. Des - again just lovely. I'm not familiar with your works or your other fandoms either but I do like your style of writing. so many gems in this story - that line of: 'the sky above them is the same color as a bruise.' - that line would be so descriptive ordinarily, but in this fandom - speaks volumes! you got so many things just right is this story: ...it made him smile, with teeth!...the village is too much, it's not enough...the sound of his name, said in that oh-so-singular way...Brendan, as transparent as he always fought NOT to be...just pitch perfect writing. and I think you've just added some stock phrases to Stendan lore:...You're in my light... That's always been the problem. and...You wanted to be found...yes, he did; yes, glad Steven did find him; yes,glad we got to as well!
