Devin Trinidad chapter 1 . 2/16/2019
Interesting story! I really like the concept and the characterization of all characters were on point. It was an interesting take on the canon ages of the characters, and I really like that you included some historical and scientific evidence.

Great job and I hope you have a wonderful day!

"Russia's people traveled down into what is today Canada."
Given this and that America and Canada are brothers... Does this make Russia their father?

Aren'tYouTired chapter 1 . 3/12/2016
So are we talking about how old they are being based on not only the land, but the first habitations of the homosapian's ancestor? This is why the representations are not just a thousand years old, but ten times that age?
Guest chapter 1 . 1/18/2016
I love this! I've always had a head canon that Canada was the older one. And I can just see little Canada taking care of little America and being a bad ass about it. Then when England took America and France took Canada, he hid it and went easy on everyone (except during war, but it always took a minute to bring his bad assery back out, that's why Canada always does better at the end of the war.) and only America and maybe Russia can tell (and Germany, but he saw Canada kick ass, Canadian's were called Bogeymen by the Germans FOR A REASON!) so America winds up in the spotlight and Canada gets mostly ignored, but he likes it that way cause it's easier to take someone when there back is turned, and one day Canada gets on his angry face, his real angry face, and Russia, Germany and Prussia back away slowly so not to be a target well America tries to calm Canada down, calling him big brother and reminding him how awesome he is and how it's not worth it to be mad at who/what ever, and the rest of the world has a heart attack.
Keylars chapter 1 . 12/25/2015
That was perfect.
SkyePhoenixDove 'n TimeTurner chapter 1 . 9/17/2015
That's an interesting take on this…

I love how Canada and America were so close and totally knew what they were talking about. They popped three thirds of the world's bubbles in a couple of paragraphs.

I've always thought that America would represent the new America, since what is America today has near to nothing to do with his original people. According to canon, Greece had a mother who left everything to him, too.

But anyway, cool story and GO CANADA AND AMERICA!
insane is normal chapter 1 . 6/22/2015
I love this story but as an australian can I just point out That the indigounus peoples first arrived from Africa around 50 000 yrs ago. At the time Australia was inhabited by these, now extinct, gaint mammals.

To add to that Australia is also a continent and by such probley older then the other countries who LIVE inside a continent.

Other then that, I love how you stuck it to the Europeans who thought that those countries were uninhabited before they graced their presence and brought sickness and diesase that almost killed off the original owners of the land :)
Mythomagic101 chapter 1 . 6/20/2015
I always thought that a nation's birth is a little before or sometime around when people start defining themselves as being part of their nation, like the first people who called themselves "Chinese." Of course, this doesn't always apply. The New World for example.

My headcanon is that a nation forms as said above, but names can change. As long as the culture of the nation doesn't change drastically, the nation won't fade and be replaced by another one. So for example, America, Greece, and China.

During colonial times, the people living in British America probably defined themselves as British instead of American, but life in the colonies was vastly different. They were more rural and the culture varied from England due to the mix of cultures of various European immigrants. This allowed for the personification of America to be born, because while the nations represent their people, they also represent the culture. Look up the definition of a nation if you don't believe me. Thus America could not be as old as he claimed in the fic. I'd say he was born around the time Jamestown was created or the Pilgrims landing. Whether Canada is older or not I do not know. I'd have to see when the first European claimed it and while doing so, left a lastly mark that still influences Canada's culture today, and not just ruins of a village. That is the reason why I do not wholely support the Canada is Vinland Theory.

The Ancients come to play in this. According to the fic, the Ancients would not have been possible. Ancient Greece would not have been formed. I believe Ancient Greece died, faded, due to the cultural change the Ottoman Empire brought. The people of Greece were not exterminated, but the culture did. Greeks stopped believing in the Olympian gods, stopped performing rituals and having the lifestyle that many think of when they hear the words Ancient Greece. The modern Greece took over, representing the new people and culture. Other nations like Greece include Egypt, Italy, etc.

China is different from the rest of the Ancient in that well, not much changed. I'm Chinese myself and I know in some parts of China the setting hasn't changed since the Shang dynasty. This makes China older than any of the other nations, even African and South American ones. Tribes fought over each all the time in both continents, and with European conquest of South America and Africa, I think it's safe to say that any personification existing before said conquests perished, Inca and some African tribes for example. Except for maybe Ethiopia and that one country I forgot the name of. China's culture and people habe stayed the same since BCs. Noodles, dragons, fidelity, education mindset, the color red, heck some of us still use the lunar calender (Grandma I'm looking at you).

Well now that I think about it, tribes in the Andes, Amazon, African jungles and savannahs who escaped European influence probably been around longer than China. This brings up the question of whether or not small tribes are enough to create a personification, do they need to cover a certain area, does population matter, etc. However, world meeting wise, the above explanation explains my perspective.

If anyone would like to debate me on this topic, feel free to PM. In all honesty, I like to think Canada is older because Vikings, Nordics, Nova Scotia and such, but I'd have to check.
Guest chapter 1 . 5/10/2015
Yes, but then how do you explan England finding America as a child? Also note that their are older people such as Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Britannia, Gernania, and old Dynasty China (which is technically China). And even Russia was once lossy, I think, controled by the Mongols.
11SnowLeopard11 chapter 1 . 4/22/2015
You know, I remember hearing about this a couple years ago or so, and pretty much turned into basic knowledge in my mind if ever brought up. All of a sudden, I can't help but want to see more fics that go along the lines of this, with Canada and America being a heck of a lot older then what they actually are.

It's like they evolved with their people, yeah?

While some would say that a personification is made when a country is official, I'd have to say that the personifications are more or less personifications of the culture's spawned due to geography. I know I'm not very knowledgeable in this topic, but where that idea came from is the different Native American tribes, and how different they were in style, one prime example being those who hunted buffalo on the plains, and those who lived in, and still live, in the forests of Canada. So you can kind of see a distinct difference, and America and Canada simply would have adjusted/evolved as their people grew and took territory.

Ah well, those are just my ideas. Nonetheless though, I'd love to see someone write more on this, and so I have to thank you on writing/posting this. Maybe more people will pick up the idea?

Also, "age spasm" lololololol.
