I really like this idea, but the dialogue needs a bit of help. The grammar and punctuation for one, it's not too bad but I really noticed it slipping in the last third of the chapter or so.
Also those kids names, Jacin and Duan, did you just make those up or are those actual names? I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to pronounce them, especially Duan, and kind of wondering why you didn't just use typical urban names.
Like you made it very clear that they were black guys in the hood, why not go the easy route with names like Tyrone and... Idk I'm not racist enough for this lol. Dwayne? Idk I think I just don't like how both names ended with an 'n' and had the same amount of sylables but I just did the same thing so obviously I'm a hypocrite lol.
