Ps. LOVE how you paint Dom's emotions in the beginning the hurt and betrayal HE felt?! I wanted to wring his virtual neck-what about the betrayal she must have felt when he just up and left her in the middle of the night?! But thankfully your Dom has more insight than the vast majority here in faci tion land and actually realizes this. Nice work.

I know this is a one shot but you should continue it! I agree with reviewer "N". Your stories are very poignant. And I am struck my how different your stories are than the run of the mill Dotty fiction I see lately, where Letty loves Dom unconditionally (in an almost crazy way where he is her whole world) while he just doesn't seem to love her back the same way.

In your story she isn't that girl who thinks he's her everything. And that is how is has to be because he has not been there for her. She's had to be strong and be one and take care if herself because he made the selfish decision to leave her behind. So now things are different. Your Letty is strong and admirable and can take care of herself. If they get back together it won't be because she can't help but fall back into his arms because she just can help herself. . . Ugh.

Whenever I get frustrated with other stories I come back to yours: sweet, well written and with very well developed characters of both Dom and Letty. Thank you so much for writing and sharing these and I hope you write

Sequel to this one?!

Amazing! I particularly like how you tell it from Dom's POV. His thinking about why she didn't come back to him, because of him, was so beautifully put. Thank you. We feel him as he goes between feeling hurt "like his heart was carved out" and betrayed to realizing that it's because he left her and made it so hard for her to find him that this happened. And then, after being so angry with her, he finds out that she was hurt, lost her memory... fantastic blow that he has to deal with.

And the small glimpse into Letty's childhood (which sounds abusive) only makes what they used to have together so much more meaningful and touching (and so much more broken by him leaving her). He managed to get through her walls to be with her for years...and now he's afraid to touch her (rightfully so). He's going to have to work hard to win her trust, to even win a chance at her trust.

The betrayal he felt that "she hadn't thought he deserved to know she was alive" was akin to the betrayal she must have felt when he promised to be with her, to make a life with her, and then left her alone in the middle of the night in the DR. You have a nice sense of symmetry.

And then you have this bit:
"You can't always save me," she said tiredly. "I'm not a little girl anymore. I'm not even the woman who thought you were her everything anymore." She pushed away from the car, turned her back to him to stare out over the city at night time. "That Letty is dead. You should just let her go. ... There was a time when I knew you'd always catch me Dom. But those days are gone."

In a few sentences, you realize what Dom has lost, what he has broken with his actions those years ago. It will never be the same...but we will see if they can build something new together, if she will even give him the chance...

I can't tell if I love this more than your other story Broken where there is a different confrontation. You do such a good job of really showing the emotions and feelings underlying things. I really hope you write more like this. Continue this story! Show us how THIS Letty and Dom make it back together...

PS. Also, thank you so much for having Dom be the one with the hollow part in his life, in his heart. I'm exhausted from all the fanfics where it's all about Letty missing Dom while he lives his new life without her, without missing her like she does him. Again-beautiful symmetry. They both love, they both messed up (Dom more than Letty here) and they are both missing a part of their lives without the other...

He'd made it too damn hard for her chase him." - I really liked this line, it conveys so many different emotions & truths about the situation they find themselves in. I think you did a great job with this, and I liked that there was a little hope for them at the end. :)
