Why it's so depressing and not the right ending you want but just felt so true about this ending.

I have to say, that ending took me by surprise. I suppose it shouldn't have - with this being an AU, there would be clear differences between this and canon. The small incorporation of Silver was really adorable to the relationship of Toothless and Hiccup, as well as a reference to the Red Death. Admittedly, I would have liked to see a little more of the living vikings' thoughts and how they handle the grief, but this was a good ending to stop it on.

I don't know what to say... I think this plot has potential to be a great story. In some parts, I got excited reading it. But my disappointment is toward the ending. I think you should try to built the emotional aspects in more detail, slowly so we the reader would feel the sadness also the regret deeply so we could cry.

I'm glad I read this. It adds another perspective for the movie. Thank you for sharing it. I hope your next story would be better.
