Thank you for giving this story a happy end. It's important, that it was Itachi's idea to have Naruto leave Sasuke, but even if it was solely Naruto's decision, I wouldn't think bad of him. Knowing what it feels like to worry about your lovers life will a great lesson for Sasuke, he should be thankful he only felt that once (in opposite to Naruto's seven times). I only wish he could have learn much earlier without having Naruto shot and risking his life.

I loved this two-shot. It was not a long story but it contained pure feelings of love, loss and every thing imaginable in a lost and found relationship; specially from Sasuke's point of view and how he tried hard to be good enough for the precious thing he had lost. very neatly done.

This was good. I don't like Naruto being shot in general, but I did like it for the story. I agree with you that Sasuke needed to feel the same kind of panic that Naruto felt all those times in order for him to really understand what he'd put Naruto through. Without that, I don't think they could reconcile as successfully because Sasuke wouldn't have known enough to be truly sorry for the past.

I'm glad I read the notes; otherwise, I wouldn't have known Ino was shot as well. I wish that part had been clearer in the story itself because it would have given even more impact to what happened to Naruto. (When Kakashi told Sasuke that Naruto would probably be alright, he could have also mentioned that Naruto's friend would be as well.) I did like that the shooting was something random that Naruto and Ino got caught in, versus if you'd made it intentional like you'd originally planned. Since this was a oneshot (twoshot, technically), trying to explain the bad guy's motives would have taken up too much story space and distracted from Sasuke's journey to get himself cleaned up.

The part with the rings at the end was very touching. I was impressed by how much faith Naruto had in Sasuke, even after everything, that he would buy those rings and wait for Sasuke's call. And I think it also showed Sasuke's love that he chose not to call Naruto. It was the first truly unselfish thing that he'd done for Naruto in a long time. I think loving someone enough to be able to let them go, if it's for their own good, is a really powerful kind of love.
