Interesting twist didn't see where GiuC was going with Sara and Anselm.

"Until that morning on the beach, when he'd seen Foyle's face crumple..."
Wow, unexpected and it ripped at my heart. Great re-use of the most moving scene in the whole story so far.
So thoroughly enjoying this story, but just like Foyles War, I am starting to dread it's coming to an end.

So nice to see Georgie step up in this Chapter to help her new family.
A lovely scene played out between Foyle and Reverand Stewart.
A great conclusion to this story arch.

Christopher's caring and concern come's through so well in this chapter, yet beyond that, you hint so well at the rage that is present.
Lovely to see the friendship between Guy Grindly and Christopher develop even further in this chapter. The TV series introduced to a series of Foyle's friends but none of them stayed the course so to speak. Love how Grindly is a reoccurring character in this story, and as Foyle's equal is able to treat as such, unlike the majority of the characters.
The narrative of the other characters describing the state Foyle so helps to drive home his state.
Milner has a nice scene where he is very Foyle like in observing Christopher's state.
This chapter sees Georgie come to her own so to speak as she steps in to help Christopher, very nice.

By the start of this chapter (46), I had my suspicion who the perpetrator was. By the time Foyle had his first suspicion, I found myself gasping GiuliettaC you can't let this happen.
It was then I knew I would be unable to put down this book for at least a few chapters.
Once "it all fitted" raced through Foyle's brain my tears were flowing and as the chapter progressed my heart was racing.
And as I read the final two paragraphs between my tears I became a complete mess, I was thankful my wife and kids where already to bed.

Well done excellent build up and setup of the plot. Loved how you intertwining the relevant details amongst other storylines in the previous chapters.

Love the verbal weaponry Foyle assembled to slay Gladys Harris. So in keeping with the verbal dressing downs used on the criminals in the show. Great Chapter

Been reading this story for the past several days and am loving it. Figured I would back up and leave some comments before I forget them.
Love the department betting on the outcome of the evening, just as you would expect from a coarse lot.
Foyle's response to the betting was so Foyle like not worried about himself or his dignity but Sams.

Been a while since this has been added to. I had hoped to get to see how James Devereaux and Alan Deakin fit into this AU. But it is a wonderful place to visit as is.

I thought of this story as I listened to a short podcast from the National Archives about The Well of Loneliness. The title of the podcast is "Unfolding the court case that banned a 1920s lesbian novel" and my first thought was whether it was the book referenced in your story, and sure enough, it was. The podcast date is 11 Sept 2017, in case you are curious.

Given how many times I've read the entirety of this story, I feel guilty for not having left a review. I just finished it again and decided I had to let you know how truly enjoyable the story is. Reading this story is like watching episodes of FW in my head, because I can see the characters saying and doing all these things. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to reading more whenever that may be.

I am really enjoying this story so far. When will I get more? For goodness sake they haven't even bought a bassinette yet and the baby's due soon!

I have just rewatched all of the episodes of FW, AND i have just discovered the wonderful world of fanfiction. I am a dedicated fan of Sam/Foyle, and was so sad that the show ignored their obvious chemistry. I would have been okay with Sam/Andrew, but the introduction of Adam's character was unnecessary and irritating. I do not like him, and watching them together makes me uncomfortable. Thanks for writing and sharing this beautiful story with us. Hopefully, you can continue posting this story, as I am starved for FW fanfic.
