I've been on this self-imposed quest to decide whether or not Merthur could have been legit. Specifically, whether or not having a platonic relationship that trumps both familial and romantic ones. I mean, you're supposed to marry your best friend, I hear, but Arthur had Gwen yet I still think he loved Merlin more; and I couldn't figure out where the line of who you love romantically isn't the same as the person youd want to have by your side for the rest of your life...

Maybe I've been thinking too much about this, but I couldn't seem to decide if Merthur undertones were solid or if it was purely a powerful platonicy.

But reading this (and it's late and I'm not sure this is/has been current butthe labels really don't matter. It's like you said, they're just Merlin and Arthur.

And maybe it's weird to being drawing philosophy from Merthur fanfiction, but the whole 'they simply are' thing just clicks. Spending so much time on the labels makes it far too easy to forget the point.

Omg this was the best meet hour fanfic I’ve ever ea! This reminds me so much of Dan and Phil, or at least the blurred lines of everything. Just that when you get so close to someone in a relationship you don’t really know ifif it’s platonic or not, and in the end, it doesn’t really matter.

I like it, I can very much see this happening :)
