But you keep referring to Nichols as the 'acting president' or that they decided he would be in charge when in fact the Speaker of The House is the legal third in line to the presidency and when the president and vice president resign the Speaker becomes the actual president, sworn in and serving out the entire term until the next election. He is not just 'acting' president. He is completely and legitimately the president. President Gerald Ford was Speaker and became president in just that way in the seventies. No one qualifies his presidency as a placeholder. Just sayin'. |
