This fic is amazing *.* so beautifully written, heartbreaking when it needed to be but also hot as hell! I love the literature references, like Hamlet's and Moby Dick's. This is a masterpiece, straight to my favorites!

Wow, just... wow. I think you're one of the few writers who can hit a character spot on. I felt that the show did make him complex, but their problem is that they didn't show us precisely why. That and they had to narrate from Akane to make him seem so. This was amazing and so wonderful, despite it's dark characteristics. Congrats on an amazing fan fiction.

That was pretty damn amazing.

Kougami is indeed an incredibly complex character, and I loved how you brought him out. Yes, he may love Akane, or at least be attracted to her in a sense, but the truth is that he will leave regardless. It was the same with episode 22 of the series, I think.

Why doesn't this have any more reviews? The transition between the episodes were really fluid, so I was kind of just slipped in and drifted throughout the entire story. It was awesome. I think I might re-read it right now just for the drifting.
His relationship with Akane also grows in a natural way after event after event which I thought was smoothly done. His thoughts and feelings on her didn't seem forced at all and I liked how you even tied those feelings to being one of the reasons to why he left.
I actually found it quite hilarious that Kougami didn't really feel that awkward having steamy dreams of the dear Inspector, but then realized that he isn't an easily flustered guy lol

PS I really love the Confucius reference. It really works.

Kougami is an amazingly complex character, deeper underneath the skin than I think the show gives him justice. All the same is Akane Tsunemori, especially watching the way she grows from the first episode to the 21st - Sibyl was right, there were so many things (the lack of truth and the cases she'd been thrown) that had blocked her from using her full potential which was aptly shown once she had learned the whole truth and such. Great show. Great story I loved it. (The smut was fan freaking tastic as well jussayin.)

I love the Kougami and Akane pair. They're just fantastic. They're a very dynamic couple and if either one of them dies or something happens to the either of them in the last episode I'll probably throw my laptop out the window and curl up in a ball and cry my pathetic eyes out just like I did for Kagari and Masaoka.

Anyways, I'm totally getting off-base here. I loved your story. Your writing is lovely and while I did spot a few mistakes (just words missing because the sentence didn't make much sense otherwise) I honestly could care less because the content of this story was fantastic. I like the progression from the beginning to the end, it was well-paced and evenly put which is exactly what I would expect from a character like Kougami.

So yeah, I could say more but I'm not sure there are enough words in the English language to describe how freaking much I loved this story.

I think this is my favourite fanfic regarding Shinya and Akane on this site. The main reason is your ability to write mature themes without making them teenage melodrama, unlike the majority if writers that have written this couple. A very unique and beautiful and beautifully tragic couple, that is.

Shinya's growing attachment and desire to and towards Akane went as smoothly in this story as it did in the series, where I always thought that their chemistry was written so naturally for a male/female relationship that I think it doesn't belong in an anime, but in books. I took the same from your story.

I also applause the fact that you didn't turn him into a lovestruck man, because Shinya is far more complex than that. He loves Akane dearly, the series has screamed that to us through his actions, but he himself isn't a man who will love anyone naturally after three years of obsession and isolation. He's far too destroyed for this. Speaking of isolation, something I loved to see in your fic: whether people want to admit it or not, Ginoza left Kougami alone chasing ghosts and called him delusional. Hence the reason why he left a letter to Akane, but not a word to Ginoza when he left.

The nightmare with Akane and Shogo will haunt me tonight. Take that as a compliment.

The ending was very dark for me, never mind the brightness you described: Shinya is marching towards his certain death, he has just abandoned people who care for him, saved his life and love him, but he enjoys his freedom that will bring crimes and feels alive. It's haunting, borderline disturbing, tragic and so Shinya. He's so similar to Shogo it's not even funny.

Keep writing and keep trying!

You really have captured the essence of Ko. We all know that with the quiet brooding anti-hero, they are who they are because there's a LOT going on upstairs.

Oh my, I hadn't realised it was you ! It's only when I read you A/N that I thought "Wait, this way of wanting to show all the complexities of a character, it reminds me of someone..." and then I went back to see the author's name and BAM ! It was you ! I'm a bit in a lazy mood, so I didn't intend to leave a review, but since it's you, I'm gonna do it.

The attraction Kougami feels for Akane is so well shown Ah, it makes me happy. Even if I do like crack pairing (especially Shougo-san x Akane. Don't ask why, I don't know either.), Kougami x Akane is nice. And it's a pairing that's hard to hate, since their relationship is so interesting in the anime. But the way you describe his feelings, it's almost hard to imagine that he doesn't do anything to her. The poor man is completely hooked and sexually frustrated. When she woke him up because they arrived at the hot springs, I thought "Oh my God, after such a dream, he's soooo gonna jump her !". But no, he didn't. And I was the one frustrated. :'D

And his first dream with Akane is a reference to the first opening, or am I just seeing things ? Because that's really the image I had in mind while reading this passage.

You really respected Kougami's character (then again, when don't you respect the way of thinking of the characters in your wrinting?), and I really had the feeling to have opened his head and have a look inside. (yeah, and all I was thinking was "Oh, NAUGHTY BOY !").

Hem, more seriously, I also liked how you put in light the way his reasonning changes a bit: at first, he only wants to avenge Sasayama, but after it's as much revenge than a need to protect Akane and a way to spit at the face of the Sybill's system, which can't judge Shougo-san. At least, that's how I perceived it.

Hmm, what else...? Ah, of course, I enjoyed your writing style, and I'm not gonna repeat myself once again by saying how well you write. Because, really, it's a given with you.

Oh, and if you ever have a quick moment of insanity where you want to write a one-shot Shougo-san x Akane, PLEASE DO SO ! I know it's probably not going to happen, but I think that if it was you who did it, the both of them would not be OOC, and the story would seem so very plausible. Which is especially hard with a crack pairing. But, oh well, I'm just going to keep this hope in a dark corner of my mind, and pray. A LOT.
