Jade-Spade chapter 1 . 5/23/2017 To the guest below: Yes, I'm alright, thank you for asking. This fanfic is about 4 years old at this point and I was a very amateurish writer who thought that piling up the angst was good writing. No, I've never been abused and I've never known anyone who's been physically or emotionally abused to this extent. I know you meant well and I appreciate it. However, as a more experienced writer now, I would like to challenge your statement and argue that writers do not always write what reflects their emotional state, and in fact in a lot of cases, they don't write from personal experience. Murder mystery writers do not write because they've witnessed or been affected personally by murder. Horror writers do not always write because they are in a state of apprehension and fear. And in this case, I was a young teenager who wanted to write something sad just for the sake of angst. I would also like to warn you that while I'm personally not very provoked by your review, other writers might be if you say something like this to them. You asked very very personal questions, and since you are a virtual stranger, this is rather intrusive behavior. Even if the writer *was* writing from personal experience, you are not someone they trust and you shouldn't psychoanalyze them from one story. Please don't make such extreme assumptions and don't ask strangers to reveal to you their highly personal experiences in the future. It is rather uncomfortable to be asked such questions. Also, don't ask any sort of question and expect a response if you're using a guest account. Thank you. |
Guest chapter 1 . 5/22/2017 Are you okay? |
QORS chapter 1 . 5/22/2017 Are you alright? Based on my knowledge, when someone writes something so sad and emotional it's a reflection of how they've been feeling around the time of writing. Majority of writers write as if they were one of the characters in a story, or the main character. It leaves behind traces of who they are, or what kind of person they are. Almost like an "I was here" kind of thing you would find on a bathroom mirror. It's like it reflects your emotions. So, having said that, I'm concerned about your mental state. Are you alright? Do you need to talk to someone? Did you have family issues as a child? Have one of your friends had issues as a child? Or do you want to share the issues with abuse? |
Guest chapter 1 . 5/14/2017 I think that slash is gross. The captain is probably twice Tintin's age. |
Guest chapter 1 . 6/4/2015 BEAUTIFUL |
anonymous chapter 1 . 1/29/2014 Hi I posted that last anonymous comment. I meant to say 'unjustifiable' not 'justifiable'. |
anonymous chapter 1 . 1/28/2014 I liked reading this story and I'm glad that tintin got that burden out of his poor heart. How could his father do that to him!? What kind of a father is he, abusing tintin like that!? How inhumane! You described it very well and helped us understand how justifiably sadistic tintin's father was. Keep up the good work! |
only-some-loser chapter 1 . 1/17/2014 Awwwww! That was so sweet! So sad, but so sweet! |
ridiculouslyhappy chapter 1 . 12/21/2013 This is flippin' depressing. :( |
Guest chapter 1 . 9/13/2013 Oh my god! This so elaborate! Is there another part to this?! Awesome story! |
Nankai no kyoufu chapter 1 . 8/16/2013 Blistering barnacles! This is good. |
DragonWithin98 chapter 1 . 3/8/2013 How could any father do that? :( It's so inhumane and not right! :'( Poor Tintin he is feeling shameful and an worthless person because of his past! Usually people like this need a light to find their way through the darkness and Haddock was the one! :D I'm glad he was there when Tintin is in pain and weak! It's true friendship! :) Thank you for inspiring me! I can never write this good! Loads Of Good Luck, GivingUpIsUseless98 |
MinstrelofMay chapter 1 . 2/25/2013 Disturbing yet very nice to see the story had happy ending. Sadly, this kind of thing happens in real life all of the time. I know friends who suffered similarly, it's not a pretty picture and takes years of healing around the right people with lots of love to be able to move on. Stuff like this scars a child well into their adulthood. Good thing for Tintin Captain Haddock is a loving man for Tintin and would do anything for him. I am kind of curious when this would take place...I'm guessing Tintin is still fairly young as I see this as more of Haddock taking the fatherly role more than a lover...I noticed on deviant you thought the story may be a bit slash, but it just sounded like a child who needed consoling. Of course, I ship them together but at a later date early 20s for Tintin, so I'm guessing its before Alph-Art. |
