Reviews for Tainted
NotRevan chapter 63 . 3/28/2019
would've reviewed more then... this fic is incredible!
NotRevan chapter 5 . 3/4/2019
I read Tarimel as Tamriel not gonna lie
NotRevan chapter 1 . 3/3/2019
This is one of the longer Dragon Age fics and judging by the note it's gonna be about blood magic which is incredibly rare for fics, at least from what I could find. Looking forward to it.
Beastlord98 chapter 2 . 6/23/2016
What a great read, just like the first chapter! Athadra so far, is an incredible character. Already, she's so brave. I'm so interested in seeing where she's going to go from this point on, especially once she reaches Ostagar. I'm eager to see her relations with Morrigan, Leliana, and the rest of the gang. Whether they'll be pleasant or not.
My favorite part of this chapter was the way Duncan reacted to the Templar, along with Athadra (which is an awesome name by the way) . It was pretty powerful. Especially when she crumpled in his arms afterwards. Templar's are scary, and templar's are unfair. I love the way you expressed Surana's reaction to that- she was fierce but it seemed she was scared too, and I love that.
Anyways, I guess it's time to move onto the next chapter. One last thing I want to say is that I liked how you represented the man with the wife. At first, an enemy to her - because for so long Surana was surrounded by so many enemies, normal people who judged her for having magic. But then she helped him anyways. Out of neccesity, it seems, but also compassion.
Loving this story so far.
Beastlord98 chapter 1 . 6/23/2016
Chapter one was a great start. Very well written, especially the accent in Surana's voice and the trip from the Circle to the shore of Calenhad. I especially like that you kept the Dalish traits from Dragon age 2 and beyond and incorporated them into your Origin story. Another thing I like is how you did the same with the Grey Warden armor. You are clearly a person who knows that they're doing as far as their Thedas lore.
As for the main character, forgive me I'm bad with names, it'll take me a couple chapters to learn it- she seems pretty cool. Hopefully I'll see more of what she looks like. Her backstory seems pretty solid, especially that she hid her accent and that she started channeling her magic into her physical strength- the idea of that is pretty damn cool.
I really like her relationship with Duncan. Duncan has always been a very special character to me, and I can see from your writing that he is to you as well. And perhaps your character :) guess I'll see!
One thing I'm a bit confused on is how the events happened in the Circle Mage background. One thing is unclear to me, what happened to make her hurt between her legs. I can only assume rape- but who? I suppose I will have to wait and see that too.
Elven-in-name chapter 2 . 1/28/2016
Awesome chapter!

I love Athandra, and I think this chapter was about knowing her better.

Wow, she is taking time to get herself used to Warden-ing, which is normal.
Hard decisions, indeed.
I liked the arl( spoiler safe) cameo.
And great lore about horses. Is it taken from the games or is it made up by you? Anyways, I'd like to use this idea about horses rarity for a fic I'm writing.

However, don't expect to read it any time soon, I'm not going to post it on the 'net. It's paper written-old-school stuff.
Elven-in-name chapter 1 . 1/8/2016
Wow. Nice.

I gotta say I like this fic. It has something unique to it. For example, Athandra(did I spell that right?) shares qualities/features with Aracane Warriors(elf warrior-mage), Spirit Healers/just Healers and if caught the theme of this fic...with Blood Mages.
Now tell me that isn't awesome!
Also, Duncan is a great character here. Seems different from other versions of him. Here, he's schetched with high detail. For instance, I liked how you adressed his 'roots' in Orlais with that dialogue. And for the record: I did know what they said( in Orlesian).
Shinkansen chapter 63 . 12/16/2013
Ok, Athadra may never become my favorite character, but I think I do like her a lot better than earlier, with some commendable traits to balance out the bad. Right now, she is more or less what I envision a Dark Warden to be or even what a Dark Warden "should be" (and not be the boring villain at the same time).

A curios take on Sten, and if not nothing else, it's an interesting choice.
Shinkansen chapter 40 . 12/14/2013
Eh. I had two times before started reading this story, but both times I couldn't pass beyond ten or so chapters.

This marks the farthest I have come yet, but I am unsure if I should continue. Fact of the matter is, I don't particularly like nor care about the main character. I like the way you write, and I like the little things you change from the game and how you flesh out (in your own way) the canon story, but all this is in spite of me despising Athadra.

Of course, it doesn't help that blood magic (especially after DaII) bores me to tears. It has lost all it lustre it ever held for me.
Farmer Kyle chapter 13 . 7/12/2013
Another odd coincidence, though I used the specialization exploit to get the blood magic and still kill the demon. I'm a goodie-two-shoes in my first plays of RPGs. I have to wonder if Athadra's trick with using magic to strengthen herself is the "Arcane Warrior" specialization, Combat Magic, the first one I unlocked and used as my mage. Her father was Dalish, and that magic is found in the Dalish ruins. Cool story!
Farmer Kyle chapter 1 . 7/11/2013
Funnily enough, I finally beat Dragon Age just last week with my female, elven mage. I look forward to seeing how this story plays out.

Good Luck in Life and Writing!

Great job! Until next indeed! :D
thinkdragonage chapter 66 . 6/21/2013
A fascinating look at how Athadra handled Amaranthine and the Architect. I wondered, at first, if you would have Maihri survive. I think it's probably good that you didn't (even though I really like that character) because it shows that even though Athadra's solution works, it's not completely failsafe.

But what a solution it is. This is a fascinating take on the whole series' emphasis on blood and the power of blood. The tantalizing bits at the end about the future just left me eagerly (but patiently, as I know you have a lot going on) waiting for your next story.

It's been a fun journey to take along with Athadra and friends.
olivegbg chapter 64 . 6/21/2013
Gah, I always hate it when Riordan dies. Great take on the battle though.
thinkdragonage chapter 65 . 6/20/2013
An excellent, but bittersweet ending to Athadra's story. Such great notes of triumph and sadness to end on-Alistair definitely came off as regal, and those two seem as solid as ever, but you can see the strain on Athadra right away from Morrigan's absence.

All of the final conversations were really well done, especially Sten's. It felt fitting that his would be last, and perhaps the most meaningful. I almost expected her to go with him, but for the whole saarebas thing...

I know you have an epilogue, but I'm still saddened to be at the end! It's been a fun ride, and I looked forward to each installment of Athadra's adventures each day. Looking forward to the epilogue, and the next story of yours :)
