Really, I'm just going to nitpick some details. I can't comment much on the story itself because you've just set up the premise. Why is Sky's entourage consisted of his queen mother, his defender and his fiancee only? That is awfully small. If Brandon is a knight at this point, shouldn't he have at least a dozen men to command? There is a lot of fallacies with just bringing one knight. Brandon can't do everything that involves defending the king. Granted, it might feel as if you have to add a dozen characters but it's not necessary to name them. I just think it would make more sense and make the story more believable. I am glad that for once Brandon is shown at being competent at his job but it takes more than one person to a king; it takes an army.
