I love stories like this, where you see what would've happened if Ponyboy turned tough. It seems like a very plausible possibility after losing Dallas and Johnny, especially with Dally's words still fresh in his mind. I especially liked this concept, that he faked it until it became real and then he died the same way Dally did, though for very different reasons.

I loved the twist you gave the story! Brilliant!
