Love this story! I love how the boys mess with him and Kate's reaction was excellent. Of course, Gates letting them know they weren't subtle at all was great as Castle bumbles his way out!

This was nearly prophetic. You nailed their mortification at Gates intercepting Castle's gift. Well done!

Gates is neither dim nor unobservant, otherwise she would not have made rank on a police force that is still, by and large, run by Irish Catholic white guys. She's known what going on since Beckett's dad and Castle's mom showed up together at the station house in "After Hours" and has kept them under careful scrutiny ever since. Unless their behavior, on duty or off, brings down the clearance rate or otherwise affects precinct operations she is content to let it ride. Still would have loved to see this play out on screen though.

It wasn't his fault, it was the boys ... loved how Gates took it away, like a teacher taking a hot wheels car "you can get it at the end of the day". So perfect for Gates. Amazed that Kate didn't bust him on it, but maybe she had him pay her back in other ways ... three hours could just about do it! Thank you!

Oh, didn't you just LOVE how the earrings ended up with Gates? Too bad that this time she didn't think Castle bought lingerie for her. That would be stretching it a bit too far, after all. Totally not her size, I guess.

Anyways, that was hilarious - and Ryan and Espo deserve a good beating. They were supposed to help Castle and Beckett keep their relationship a secret!

This was quite enjoyable.

You did an excellent job with the boys teasing Castle about the gift he bought Kate. Of course, Gates would spot them and go over to see what was going on.

I also enjoyed the part where Gates handed the box over to Kate and then her finding out what's inside. Kate's reaction was totally expected. Luckily, Castle was able to salvage their Valentine's Day with a very romantic gesture which Kate appreciated.

Great job.

Oh, this was so good. So much fun! A Castle story with so little Kate it in that I just completely enjoyed. Who have thought!
