Every year, every October, I reread this story. It's as much a part of my Halloween rituals as making costumes or stocking up on candy. And every time I reread it, I love it more. And rereading this first chapter today, I find my favorite things are the parallels it draws to the film: obviously, Jamie being like Jack in that the first thing he remembers is darkness. But also the parallel to Pitch's last moments in the film as he was dragged back into the dark by shadows, clawing at the snow.

Thank you for this story, and the need/tradition it has given me.

Oh my goodness this fic was INCREDIBLE. The amount of detail in it all is sooooooo just omgggg and it ties in to details from the film and the book series both so well, like with Jack and Jamie basically reciting lines from the film, just omg so well written. My favorite is when Jamie recites Jack's line of "The moon told me so", that was PERFECT. And the entire scene in Sophie's room with Jamie vs Pitch, that scene is so eery and suspenseful and you can feel yourself getting lost in it just like Jamie nearly gets lost in the shadows before Sophie and Jack help him fight the voices. And then THE LAST CHAPTER. JAMIE IS THE BOOGEYMAN :D OMG it is now my headcanon that Jamie and Jack live happily ever after as a spirit couple 3 and Jamie will never become like Pitch as long as Jack is there with him. Also, Sophie will always believe in him. If there was only one thing I would've liked to see more, it'd be a bit of redemption for the original Guardians, y'know, having them give Jamie a much deserved apology for doubting him the entire story. I'm sure it happened off-screen though. North, Tooth, Sandy, and even Bunny are humble enough to realize they owe him an apology, as we see when they lower their weapons despite Jamie basically almost turning into Pitch. Anywho I should stop rambling, INCREDIBLE STORY! Thank you SO MUCH for this amazing read!

WAHHHHH! I CAN"T BEALIVE THIS IS ALL OVER! Jamie and Jack shenanigans for the win, with jack around Halloweens are sure going to be interesting. This was all the right amounts of mystery and suspense and awesomeness so I'm going to miss it! Looking forward to your next (if you do one) fic.

All he needs is just one moment of weakness, and that's an awful lot to ask of the poor kid, but...containing all of the darkness inside of him-what brilliance! 3
