So this wasn't all that bad at all. I kind of liked it; it was a lot like a character study and it somewhat (albeit a little) reminded me of Neku's speech at the end of the game. However, I'd like to point out a few things before jumping into positives:

Obviously, this takes place after the game. But Neku seems hostile towards Shiki and Beat... I don't know, but after surviving three games and coming to see the 'magic of friendship' (or whatever) I don't think he'd say something like: "Shiki's doing what she does best - acting like she's three", and "At least she picks fights with kids in the same mental age group", and finally: "You should probably know that Shiki looks stupid trying to look angry when she's obviously not".

For the most part, I see Neku in this fanfic as post game, yet slightly OOC, or maybe pre-game. Because he's mean and cold - not funny. Just downright spiteful. That's not Neku after the game, and if that's where this fanfic is supposed to take place, then yeah, OOC. Neku is a sarcastic character and I think he'd still keep a few traits post game, but I highly doubt he'd fire at his friends of all people - yes, I mean mentally. Especially since they are what he values most.

Aside from characters, there were some run-ons here and I ended up cutting it off halfway because I felt most of said run-ons were trivial. Not needed, basically.

Still, it's interesting to see a guy writing about Neku and Josh... Not romantically, of course, but platonic or something along those lines *shrugs* Sure Josh didn't really appear, but you get the point...
This fanfic idea is one of new and old, and it's nice to see different takes on it.

Keep in mind that I'm not telling you to write Neku the way I see him after the game... I'm just saying it's a different take and in my opinion, not all that likeable. For others, they may like this take on Neku; I just don't. But I'm not bashing you for it; I'm not saying 'delete this' because you wrote Neku differently than I do. It's just... different *shrugs* I mean you seem to have an interesting writing style and all; it's just a matter of in-characterness, but then again, that depends on how much you care if people are in character or not.

Really well written. I just finished the game and reading this its like you were writing another chapter to the story you have neku down really well. I can really see this happening congrats you did an amazing job.

Thought provoking... I really enjoyed reading this :) I have to say that Neku waiting for Joshua (not matter the age) has always been hinted in my headcanon (even though I haven't uploaded anything... yet ;)), and I like the reference to Another Day in the beginning! :D Keep up the good work, and good job on this fanfic.
