It's been years since you last updated this fic, but I remembered the amazing story about Holly Potter and had to come back and read it from start to finish. Holly Bears the Crown is as wonderful as I remember: I think this is one of the few fics that capture the "what if Harry is a girl, but with her dad's personality?" essence perfectly, because as we all know James was popular and talented but also something of a bully in his first few years at Hogwarts. I've seen reviews criticizing Holly, Lavender, and Parvati's actions toward Hermione, but I think it was a brilliant move: of course their actions aren't at all commendable, and I really felt for Hermione, but it's one of the most powerful scenes that shows how Holly can be cruel, even if she's rather likable for the most part.

The way the Dursleys treat her much better than Harry made sense to me, and I especially liked how Holly is nonetheless still miserable there, with the suffocating do's and don'ts of young ladies stuffed down her throat, paraded about for Petunia's social life... I shudder to even think about it. But on the other hand, her relationship with Minerva and Phin! It's so precious, I'm glad Holly has adults who genuinely care for her happiness and well-being.

Snape... god, you're so good at making him so CREEPY without making it over-the-top? Like, part of it might be because Holly isn't really giving him much thought beyond noticing that he's kind of hovering, but the way he says her first name like a caress (and keeps calling her Holly, not Miss Potter), the way he keeps staring... The confrontation when she and Hermione are looking for Minerva and Snape is there, the way he smiles when Holly reaches up to touch her chest? I don't know what he was thinking, maybe that "oh she feels something when she looks at me" (dear god), but it was SO creepy, well done! His obsession with Lily really bleeds through, even when Holly is oblivious to her mum's history with him.

I love how the new generation of Marauders are formed, Lavender and Holly's first interaction is a strong echo of James and Sirius and their dynamic is much the same: Lavender's more aggressive, Holly's the sort of ringleader and the two of them are the dynamic duo. Parvati... is she Remus? Or Peter? Hermione I can see as Remus in the sense that they're both bright but desperately lonely, only to be drawn into the popular Marauders' group and feel delighted by her inclusion into the friendship.

Hermione... oh, thank goodness she's finally a part of the group now! I felt so bad for her during the freeze-out and shunning of the girl, but as it's told from Holly's perspective I understand the reasoning behind her exclusion. Besides, little girls - especially preteens - can be absolutely vicious and cruel without fully realizing it, and I think you captured that very well in this fic. And again, just goes to show how different Holly is from Harry.

The man in the mirror! I've seen reviews speculating that this is Sirius, and it seems likely, but for a wild moment my mind was like "Regulus?!" Even though he's probably as dead as a doornail.

I know you probably won't be updating this fic anytime soon, but I still enjoy wondering about future romances: if Holly is James, then who's to be her Lily? Will there be a Lily? If so, then who's Snape?

The relationship you built with Holly and Arcturus Black was SO interesting and heartwarming, I'm eager to see how this continues to play out over the years. Thanks for writing this masterpiece!

Aww, no sequel. That's too bad. I really wanted to know about Holly seeing Sirius in the mirror. Maybe one day you'll continue this amazing story?

Honestly? This has to be one of my favorite fanfictions. I love your story so much, I love the way you write and your fem harry is everything I wanted to read, so original, so real. I'm enjoying this immensely so far. Interesting that Snape didn't end up hearing the prophecy, and that Peter was the one to reveal it in order to save his own life. Not to mention that Snape doesn't know about Peter either, though I guess it was about the same in canon, depending on when Peter went traitor there.
